Just got my college schedule for next year. Four of five classes are between 9 AM and 1 PM which is sweet, but my Multimedia Communications course is 7-10 at night which is a bit rough. I'm sort of a morning person and 9 AM isn't really that early for me, so I'm pretty stoked about it.
I'm assuming that 7-10 class is a three credit class once a week, right?  Those are the best.  If you have a 50 minute class, it's very predictable and the teacher can get into their routine.  I was almost always in those classes for their entire prescribed time, but almost never for my three hour classes.  That professor (I'm guessing it will be a TA or low-level professor since the bigwigs usually don't want to be teaching at 10 PM) doesn't want to be there that late at night any more than the students.  Plus, it's just harder for the professor to judge how much will get done in a three hour session; some classes go through material quicker than others.  The other bonus is that if you have one class cancelled (Thanksgiving break, Rosh Hashana, Labor Day, professor sick, etc.), that's the equivalent of having an entire week of classes cancelled in a normal class!
Yeah you're exactly right it's a three credit, once a week class. I see what you mean as well about the professor not wanting to be there any more than the students so late at night so I guess I'm looking forward to that as well. Plus the class is a Multimedia Communications course which is something that I'm really interested in as well.

Those kind of classes can REALLY suck as well. I took an accounting course on Monday night a few years ago that was three hours long and was absolutely brutal because it was a boring subject and if you ever got lost in the homework after the class you couldn't get that one on one help from the teacher till the next week. Before that I took a military history class on Thursday nights that was FOUR HOURS LONG. I about hung myself after that one. It's pretty tough taking those types of classes when all you wanna do is start the weekend with your buddies. Plus, it can be really easy to walk out of those classes wanting nothing to do with that particular subject till the following week and forgetting the assignments that are due for next time.

50 minute classes three times a week are a drag too because it obligates you to be there three times a week, and you usually don't get much done/learn anything in 50 minutes.

The ideal setup are those classes that are about an hour and a half twice a week. It makes it easier to focus for the week, it's easier to learn what you need to, and prevents you from wanting to kill yourself three hours in and knowing you've still got another hour left.

Your first problem is that you're taking accounting.  The closest to a "hard science" three hour class that I took was Psych Stats, but the rest were social sciences kinds of classes.  I'm gonna guess that those professors tend to be a little less business-like than your average accounting professor.  The Psych Stats guy was exactly like I described above: young guy, looking for tenure, and forced to take the less desirable teaching slots.
Those 50 minute classes three times a week look at lot better if you've taken a five credit foreign language class: 50 minutes MTWRF.  It's like being back in high school!

I took a 3-hour, 7-10 pm, Thursday night Macroeconomics class this semester. Death.

But it wasn't a full 16-week course, the teacher let us go early every week after the first one, he even cancelled some classes down the stretch, and our Final was a take-home test. Needless to say, I think the teacher realized this hell he had been put into and helped us out.

Finally beat my damned computer at chess after about 12 tries. I can usually beat or stalemate most of the people I have played, but this one felt extra good, despite all the lost pieces on my end.
