Am I the only one not happy with what they're doing with Captain America? Casting Chris Evans made me want to puke. I was hoping they could make a more edgy captain america with an older more crusty veteran actor as the Cap, make it more of a Watchmen/Dark Knight Returns-type film where it's set in a gritty world where Cpt A is an older superhero trying to make sense of a modern criminal era. Instead it's gonna be a flashy popcorn flick with a horrible lead actor.

Imagine. A comic book fan not happy with something. That never happens.

EDIT:

Also, anyone catch this?

I've had it to the :censored: with grimdark comic movies that aren't really supposed to be grimdark. Making a grimdark movie with a guy in a bright red white and blue costume makes as much sense as making the Red Skull Italian.

As for the costume, I can live with it, but there's too much black. Couldn't they make the black straps blue? I'm not so sure about the straps as stripes design either.

The US Military spent all their money on the Super Soldier Serum, they forgot to earmark a couple grand for blue straps. Maybe for the Korean War they can get it sorted out.

Chris Evans as Cap = disappointing. Should've been Matt Damon.

i'd rather have Evans as Cap, someone who is 28(soon to be 29) compared to Damon who is about to be 40, i'd want someone younger, besides I think Evans would do a great job.

Besides, they should be saving Matt Damon for an Animal Man movie. Matt Damon IS Buddy Baker.

Some thoughts on Thor and Cap. America:

- Love the way Captain's Outfit looks, but the helmet looks weird.

- Chris Evans just doesn't look right for Captain America....and that's looking at some rendered pictures.

- Thor's outfit looks good but looks like Thor 2099...seems too futuristic and platicky. And no hetmet?!?!? come on....

It looks like Jeremy Renner is indeed being tabbed to play Hawkeye in the Avengers. There were rumors of this late last year.

Take a look at Thor:

Looks like someone took a wrong turn at Minas Tirith.

Mjolnir doesn't look big enough.

I'm really feeling the Cap and Thor costume designs. Cap looks great IMO... it feels very Nolan-Batman to me, in the sense that it looks traditional and very much in the spirit of Captain America, but also has a practicality to it. Nice blend of functionality and fanboy. I would imagine that the costume will change somehow by the time the Avengers gets off the ground since by all reports, the Cap movie is a WWII period piece.

Thor's costume is pretty cool. He's got one of the more outlandish and, dare I say, ridiculous costumes of the big Marvel franchises. I think it does a nice job of maintaining the fantastical elements of Thor's outfit without making it too goofy. I have to imagine the winged helmet will be used, just because it's just so iconic to the franchise, along with Mjolnir.

That's just what I was thinking. Maybe he has one but it's just not shown in this particular pic.

I, for one- am disappointed with the Captain America renderings.

I never liked the "ultimate" Cap's uniform. I always felt the little stars on the shoulder were just too superfluous. I may be a stickler for the Classic Cap costume. Eagle Wing temples and blue "plate mail" chest just say "captain America" to me.

Honestly, know that the Cap movie is based in the 1940's, those renderings that we've seen so far look fine. I would assume that when the timeline advances in Avengers that some kind of modernization would happen.

I'm glad somebody finally had the good sense to give the Odinson a beard. Shaving's for non-Viking wimps like me.

And in what I think will be a huge blow to the Avengers (not the actual making of it, but the quality):

Marvel Fires and Insults Edward Norton, Agent Fights Back

We recently reported that Edward Norton has been replaced as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in "The Avengers" movie for being a troublemaker and an actor who does not work well with others. Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige confirmed the news by saying:

"We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in 'The Avengers.' Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. 'The Avengers' demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert [Downey Jr], Chris [Hemsworth], Chris [Evans], Sam [Jackson], Scarlett [Johansson], and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."

Norton's talent agent Brian Swardstrom just responded to the harsh words by stating:

"This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light. Here are the facts: two months ago, Kevin called me and said he wanted Edward to reprise the role of Bruce Banner in 'The Avengers.' He told me it would be his fantasy to bring Edward on stage with the rest of the cast at Comic-Con and make it the event of the convention. When I said that Edward was definitely open to this idea, Kevin was very excited and we agreed that Edward should meet with ['The Avengers' director] Joss Whedon to discuss the project. Edward and Joss had a very good meeting at which Edward said he was enthusiastic at the prospect of being a part of the ensemble cast. Marvel subsequently made him a financial offer to be in the film and both sides started negotiating in good faith. This past Wednesday, after several weeks of civil, uncontentious discussions, but before we had come to terms on a deal, a representative from Marvel called to say they had decided to go in another direction with the part. This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings.

We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige's mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in 'The Avengers' cast, many of whom are personal friends of his. Feige's statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton's talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel's fans."

In my opinion, Marvel is so much better than DC.

Funny thing about the Captain America movie: It's being filmed in England.
