FiddySicks
Lets bring the AHL to Alaska!!!... and a Triple A baseball team to Hawaii! Please tell me you are both joking, these teams wont be able to pay the transportation costs that would be required To be fair, Triple A baseball made it work for 27 years.Eww, they played in Aloha Stadium? That must've been awful. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.)
Needschat
They taste twice! The Messa Rink - home of the NCAA men's Division I champion Union College Dutchmen - only holds 2200 or so, much too small for the team. Plus, if there was a team coming to Schenectady, the nickname would be based on either General Electric or American Locomotive. Oh what could have been.... Sodboy13
Almost certainly "Adirondack Flames", with jerseys exactly like Calgary's. Maybe they'll put in the effort to put the Flaming "A" on the front, maybe they won't. slapshot
Schenectady's only 20 or so miles from Albany. And 15 or so from Troy.In theory, too close to support two AHL teams. And Troy has the larger arena on the RPI campus (4700+). Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
DustDevil61
Pipe dream for me: The Cincinnati Cyclones move up to the AHL, become the Blue Jackets affiliate, and I get to watch prospects develop in person.Speaking of pipe dreams: Utah Flames doesn't have a bad ring to it. But seriously, aside from the fact that the AHL west of Texas is very unlikely, the AHL in Salt Lake wouldn't happen, at least with the current Grizzlies owners David Ellmore and Donna Turtle. The AHL Grizz franchise (now Lake Eire) apparently got burned by Phoenix--leading to the suspension/sale/move of the original AAA club and leaving a bad taste in David Ellmore's mouth. He wanted more control over his team and affiliates, and so got an ECHL franchise in order to do so, and now has had about 3-4 affiliates since the drop down (NY Islanders, Calgary, and now Anaheim). Not to mention that the Grizzlies are actually relevant in the ECHL this year. The_Admiral
There's the Syracuse Crunch, the real-life version of Schenectady Crispies. The_Admiral
I feel like Abbotsford wants to be done with a New York/New England-based league forever, inasmuch as they paid the Flames to go away and never come back.
