Their average quality is no a high one.Ive never seen Francis Santaquilani's work but now I see he designed the UTEP identity and several other great stuff...I really like his work. He has designed much of the UHL, CHL and OHL teams.Phoenix is just a cookie-cutter assembly line of overly-detailed illustrations passing off as sports logos. Always too many colors, shades, and beveled text set in City Bold or Serpentine.Santiquiliani did most of the logos for the Womens Pro Fast Pitch Softball league and also logos for a lot of semi-pro womens' football teams. Their average quality is no a high one.Checked your stuff... well. still lot to learn.listen, i love confidence (and mostly agree with your assesment of PDW), but dude...your portfolio isn't THAT impressive (much better than mine, but not anywhere near as impressive as flynnagain's, in my opinion) - you are skilled, no doubt, but there is a lot of stuff fit for madden-create-a-team in your sports id section, if you ask me - your logo for the school in indonesia was solid, but the font choice was very basic, the treatment was boring and your rendering of a big cat left many wondering (myself included) what exactly it was - i don't mean this to be critical of you, it's just that your response strikes me as a tad condescending and certainly not overly endearing there are a lot of really, Really, REALLY talented individuals on these boards who could easily come in and rip the work of people like me to shreds, but they don't...instead, they try to help others improve by offering constructive critiques - "well. still a lot to learn." doesn't strike me as a particularly constructive critiquetake this for what it's worth to you...and, to add value to this discussion, frederick & froberg have done a good deal of athletic work, although they don't appear to be wholly an athletic design firmhttp://www.fboyz.com Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The hiring standard is very high, and the firms are usually either small/one-man operations or high-powered firms with few open spots. In my opinion, your best bet is to work solo and make a name for yourself through your work. It never hurts to make contacts at some of these places, though.I have personally worked for/with Joe Bosack in the past (great guy, does great work), and to my knowledge, he only recruits freelancers. You might get an in that way, but he's very picky about who he works with. And of course, if Joe sees this and I'm wrong, he is more than welcome to correct me.
