CAB
Your drawings are always very good and I know they are simplified from the reference photos, but I think you could simplify even more. And thicken your lines up! Specifically around the eye area, the ears, and the hair/mane thing (hah don't know what it is).

That would make it look less like a sketch and more like a logo. Also, you should try to make the horns a little thiner and more pointed, just to add more focus to them, and give it a cleaner look. hettinger_rl
Breathing life back into this idea. It is rumored that there may be another high school opening in Rapid City, SD and I immediately thought that Pronghorns would be a great mascot for the school. Based on that idea I came back to my old attempt and updated it. I used a vintage NCAA school logo as reference, see if you can guess which. C&C welcome. kewp80
I feel you have way too much detail on this. Also clean up your lines, right now it looks like you used the trace tool on illustrator. pianoknight
You could make a really kick-ass modern logo here as well with just some line thickening. This is a WAY rough mock up I did freehand in Paint in like 5 minutes, but by thickening some lines and removing a little detail this thing could pop, man. 5th in NAT. TITLES | 2nd in CONF. pianoknight
It's better, but some lines are too thin. Or in other words, too much detail.Like the chin line - it's just a thin tan line that gets lost against the white. Either thicken it or remove it. 5th in NAT. TITLES | 2nd in CONF. So this is bit improved then, still needs touching up though.

suplauren
Do you use a pen tool? A lot of your lines look a little "shaky." This could be a result of having too many anchor points with a pen tool.I think for your vintage mascot logos the little bit of roughness is fine, and adds some charm. But since this is a more modern-style look, I think it would look better if you smoothed out the lines as much as possible. It looks pretty good as far as that goes right now, but the jawline and neck outline could use a little work. You also have a couple areas with very fine lines. Especially the black lines on the cheek, ear, and the nose-mouth area. In smaller applications those lines would disappear. You should thicken them up or take them out. One more thing that I think would help push this over the top is giving the horns more definition. Right now the forehead and horns are a big black mass. If you can find a way to break that up and especially give the foreshortened spike on the left horn some depth, I think it would look better.Pronghorns are an underused mascot! I look forward to you finishing this one up, and I hope the school picks it up from you. laurenlogos.tumblr.com
kewp80
^^^ Good C&C here. I'm also feeling the perspective on the horns/antlers are a bit off. The one on the right seems to be coming from the forehead above the eye like normal, but the one on the left seems to be coming out of the top of his head between his ears. suplauren
Looks a lot better already. The biggest thing I notice is the position of the pupil is making him look like he's upset about his horns. Move it more towards the front so he's eyeing the viewer, or move it back to the position from the old logo. I think if you add nostrils back in that would look a bit better. The line on the closer ear near the horn is very thin, and on the closer horn, the front spike looks dull. Sharpen it up, and you'll be well on your way. Great job smoothing out the lines! The ears and neck look so great! laurenlogos.tumblr.com
