Yes, not much has changed for DAY GAMES (especially mid week ones like this), but things have gotten a little better beginning in 2008.Just seeing the Trop makes me cringe. Anybody got any Advil?its actually not that bad in personYou are correct, being at the Trop isn't as bad as most photos and TV coverage make it appear. Articles on September 29, 2002 and April 3, 2003. Trust me, I've been following this team since 2001-- I know these things. It's only open when the demand is there. For example, for Closing Day they had several thousand people in the upper deck. 1997 | 2003

TBGKon
Anybody know how it looked on the last game?I watched most of the game that afternoon (4pm start), and that pic was prob from around first pitch. As the evening went on, the game concluded, they had a post game ceremony with former Marlins, the All Time Florida Marlins team, etc. During the ceremony, the lower level was packed as people arrived after work.Needless to say, the paint job was lame. Anyone else notice that they covered up the dirt for the football games prior to the Marlins final homestand? This was prior to MNF opener 2011:
FiddySicks
Ok so if they can do it in Miami, why the hell can't the Raiders cover up the dirt in the coliseum? They played the Jets last weekend and the diamond was STILL there. Worst part is the A's finished their home schedule almost a week before that game was even played! I kept looking over and over for that diamond, and with the Pats driving up and down the field, it was nowhere to be found. Thought that was interesting, wonder what took them so long to do this. TheOldRoman
I don't know how they could even place grass over the infield without completely digging out the infield dirt. Otherwise the sod would just be sitting atop the dirt, not level with the other grass. Baseball teams are normally so meticulous about the condition of their infield, and I can't imagine ripping it out and creating a new one in the span of a few days would be good for its playing condition. Maybe that's why they never did it before, and since it was the Marlins' last series at home, they said "to hell with it".
