2011 NFL Season

I would have no problem with dancing in a club.

For the players, sure, it sucked to lose, but sometimes it just makes sense to try and have fun afterwards to try and get away from the months of agony and nightmares they will have regarding the game. In effect, their serenity now, insanity later way of thinking.

Win or lose, they're still rich as hell, and now they have time to enjoy their money for a few weeks because vacation just began. Who in the world wouldn't be happy?

Does anyone else agree that if Gronk had somehow caught that Hail Mary pass, that would be the greatest ending to Super Bowl in history? This is coming from a full-on Boston sports hater, but if he had caught that, IMO, it would have been.

To me, it didn't look like he came all that close to catching it. I guess I don't understand all the "Gronk was so close" stuff I've seen today. But yeah, I'm sure all the "greatest ever" BS would have started had a Patriots player somehow caught the pass. But it was incomplete, and that's that.

Close would be trapping the ball, or having the ball go between your hands as you grasped for it. He really wasn't close. It bounced, then went through his hands. Now, from the TV angle, I couldn't tell if maybe he had snagged it until I saw it squirt loose, but you're right... he wasn't as close as they make it seem.

He was never really that close to catching it. From the first angle it looked close but wait for the second look (around 1:08) and you can see he never had a real chance at it. Two steps sooner and maybe.

Tim Couch would have completed it; passes of 50+ yards with no time on the clock are his specialty.

Tim Couch? Uh, OK.

Not Tim Tebow... Tim COUCH... That woke me up!

Considering that Couch is the only QB to have two game winning TDs of 50+ yards with no time on the clock, coupled with the fact that he didn't really do too much else, I figured that was a gimme.

The way I look at is what commitment do they really have to the team following the Super Bowl?

If this is a regular season I would make a bigger deal over it because they have to be at the facility by 9AM to go over film. If your out partying the previous night that means your not taking the film session very seriously.

Super Bowl though, who cares from a coaches' perspective. Yeah they probably shouldn't be out partying after a loss, but this just in, athletes don't have the best moral consequence in the world. As long as they are showing up on time, giving it max effort for when you ask them to, and obeying the law, you really can't criticize them. If being a decent person were a requirement to join the NFL at least half the guys would be kicked out of the league tomorrow.

I pretty much agree with this. But also, to extend this, the team has just finished a succesful season. Yes they lost the last game, but they have played hard for 19 games and done better than most would have predicted in August. Maybe the night of the Superbowl is not politically the best time to be out behaving like that, but a lot of guys have made a decision to live a cleaner life than most people their age in order to be a pro sportsman, why not let their hair down at the end of a season for one night?

There are some that believe you should be upset, losing the World Championship with 53 seconds left, and in no mood to party.

It's not a big deal to me. Let them dance!

And I this were a high school or Pop Warner team and these guys had school on Monday, I'd agree. But these guys now have free time to race their Ferraris to their giant mansions and bang their supermodel girlfriends who are so insanely hot, most of us couldn't even dream her up in the most creative of yank sessions. Again to anyone who feels that way, what's there not to celebrate? I'm really not sure what I'd be happier to say, Woo! I just won the Super Bowl! Or Woo! I have a few extra weeks to indulge with my fortune that is larger than the GDP of some small nations!
