NFL Team Color Codes

GatorHunter

Recommended Posts

I was looking around the net for a complete list if R/G/B codes for all 32 NFL Teams, but I was unable to find a complete list. I found many sites with partial list. I did find one site that had all the color Swatches, but no R/G/B codes. So, what I have don't is take all the swatches and converted them into the R/G/B code and decided to go ahead and share it because while I was searching, I found a lot of post for people wanting the complete list.

I want to give www.ssur.org credit for providing the swatches.

looks like this is the most up-to-date list. between your site and Wikipedia, you both are the only ones that have the swatches That I could find. I don't trust Wikipedia most the time. That's why I used your site.

Guess I'll have to update my R/G/B Codes when your done.

Yeah...I've made some corrections on Wikipedia (my user ID is 'PANTONE' there), but for the most part, the colorboxes there are complete guesses by persons unknown.

One of these days, I should figure out how to automatically update Wikipedia from my databases...

. .

Is it me, or does Miami's aqua look a few notches darker this season?

Judging by Brandon Marshall's socks and his shoe color, he's probably in a uniform violation

09000d5d821c6e4b_gallery_600.jpg

It shouldn't be.

The only color changes for 2011 are Buffalo - dropping Nickel (other colors are the same as before), and San Francisco (they went from a Pantone Red in 2009, and then to a custom Reebok color in 2010, and now back to the Pantone Red for 2011).

Hey - you changed the Panthers' Black to Process Black - it is actually different than the other NFL teams...it's PANTONE Black 6 C, which translates to #101820 and R-16, G-24. B-32.

(You thought it was a mistake, didn't you?)

Really, the only changes to this list will correspond to those teams using Black (Process Black C is now #2C2A29 and R-44, G-42, B-41), and any of the teams that use a "blended" metallic color (8000+ C).

No, I pretty much left all as you had them, but I did copy and paste some that said Black, so could have been my mistake. The only ones I had question about is the Dolphins Coral, you have the same swatch as Denvers Orange, so I changed it to a shade lighter. The only other one I have a question about is the Redskins Flesh Tone.

just a quick question...why do the Bucs' pewter helmets and pants look so much more like a yellower pewter than the actual metal? I've seen the Bucs utilize a much more greyer pewter color in other places. What's the official color???

The Dolphins and Broncos use the same Pantone value for their orange, but the NFL specifies different CMYK and RGB values for each team.

Instead, the two groups learned to assimilate peacefully. Which is one of the reasons that I use the Pantone-specified sRGB color space values for my color swatches.

Much more consistent, and in-line with how the colors would look when printed. I find that the vast majority of these team- or league-specified RGB values are based on bad Illustrator or Photoshop conversions, and don't reflect the colors accurately.

Oh and BTW - the Dolphins and the Broncos use the same exact Pantone Textile color:

I have a theory about that very subject...I'll address it tomorrow, but it started out as a Pantone Metallic color, and then was changed to a custom Reebok color in 2008.

I noticed this as well, I was quite flustered by how some were so off/different than their Pantone color, or at least what it should look like. I mean its amazing, they give 4 color methods (Pantone, CMYK, RGB, Hex) and not one matches one of the others lol.

I'm guessing that the NFL has its reasons, but I can't help thinking that color consistency would be a worthwhile goal.

Going back to that Dolphins/Broncos Orange, a number of teams use that color (PANTONE 1655 C) - the Bengals, Browns, Broncos, Dolphins and Buccaneers. However, there are many different RGB (HTML) and CMYK values assigned to it.

Bengals - R:211 G:47 B:30, C:00 M:85 Y:100 K:00

Browns - R:211 G:47 B:30, C:00 M:75 Y:100 B:00

Broncos - R:255 G:82 B:00, C:00 M:82 Y:100 B:00

Dolphins - R:215 G:69 B:29, C:00 M:75 Y:100 B:00

Buccaneers - R:215 G:69 B:29, C:00 M:75 Y:100 B:00

Three different RGB sets, and three different CMYK mixes. However, if a printer was to print these using spot inks, they'd all look the same. In fact, NFL Style Guides used to be printed using Pantone inks, so the colors WERE consistent.

For comparison's sake, here are the current specs for PANTONE 1655 C:

PLS_1655_C_SRGB_Summary.png

If the NFL used these RGB (HTML) and CMYK values for each of these teams, there would be consistency across the board - from printing to digital applications. And, if they're looking for differences in the Oranges used, maybe they should pick different colors.

What question do you have about it?

Looked a little dark at first, but after looking at it again, i was wrong. The colors look a little different in the swatches, but I think it could be my eyes getting bad, lol

Here's a Redskins helmet, optimized for the sRGB color space:

Note the use of what I call "RGB Black"...I use R:01 G:01 B:01 for all versions of Black for web graphics...using Black C or Process Black C tends to "wash" out the color.

Is that what you have always used? I thought you use to use 30/30/30, but maybe I'm thinking of something else.

No - the RGB Black thing is newer. 30/30/30 is the older (before PANTONE PLUS) sRGB measurement for Process Black C.

To give you an example as to why NOT to use those RGB values - the new PANTONE PLUS sRGB values for Process Black C are 44/42/41. Black C is 45/41/38. Pretty awful for web graphics.
