2013 Winter Classic

I finally did something that I've had in mind for a long time a few weeks ago!

So here is a concept for an all Florida Winter Classic. Obviously, it's a joke. The weather down there for New Years is about mid 60s, and Raymond James Stadium hosts a bowl game on New Years Day! But one can dream.

I took the Winter Classic script from the last 3 years, and some aspects over the years with the snowflakes, NHL logo, and puck. I did a beach scene, and a palm tree for the area, just for cliche effect.

The jerseys were the best part, and they were just silly. The Bolts' set is an old alternate I made last season with the Habs' stripes with Tampa Bay on the chest. The only difference is vintage white. The Panthers set has old 1920s stripes, and beige pants. I didn't want to do a throwback for Tampa, and Florida doesn't have that much of a vintage history, so Faux-backs will do!

Comment, everyone. I might do some more, I might not. You'll see.

I did get retweeted by the Lightning when i sent them this!

Also, I swear if anyone mentions that it can't take place in Tampa.

If it were possible, a southern Winter Classic would be awesome just to piss off all the people who are rabid anti-Southern hockey.

I absolutely love the concepts, BTW.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

A fantastic concept. I love the logo, and the Tampa Bay sweaters look great, but I'm not so sure about the Panthers. It's not that it's a bad concept, but I've just never liked that Panthers logo. Nice work.

Although, one thing to consider is that the Winter Classic probably couldn't take place in Tampa :P

No, no, I read the whole thing, I was just joking with him.

EDIT: Also, for some more C&C, looking at it again, the only change that I would make to the Lightning sweater is swap out the vintage white for plain white.

What the :censored: does the temperature in a city have to do with hosting the Winter Classic? The Rangers and Kings played a pre-season game in Las Vegas back in 1991. It was September. It was hot, around upper 90s/low 100s. The ice had no problem. Don't believe me?

Well, Florida can't even fill out an arena and TB can only do so because of embarrassingly cheap ticket prices, so a baseball field would be empty.

Anyways, I agree that the Florida logo is too detailed for the set. But that TB jersey is - sorry - atrocious. There's nothing vintage about that except for the vintage white and the striping. In your defense, their set is already wanna-be old-school, so there's only so much you could've done.

Now you made them think that people want a WC in Florida :P

I bet you anything people are gonna be like " *gasp* Is this a possible leak for the 2013 WC logo?" like they did with Robbman's Marlins concept.

Why not? Great concept.

(Perhaps try just the head of the panther on front of the Florida shirts).

Logistically, I think it could be done. There's some beautiful stadiums down there.

Play the game at night. The outside temperature couldn't be much more than the inside temp. at many rinks.

The game's become a New Year's tradition and destination no matter where it's played.

A southern version might be a welcome change.

Interesting, fun stuff here. nice job.

Wasn't there an issue with grasshoppers jumping into the ice?
