Billy B
Ah, I like their uniforms. Classy, modern enough, with a striking color scheme. You say "missed opportunity", I say "didn't want to fix what wasn't broken".Have to agree with this. That logo needed a modernization, but they've had a good uniform for their entire history and there's no reason to change it. I think it's a nice somewhat modern touch on a traditional template. oldschoolvikings
I'm surprised, too. I wouldn't want to see a crazy overhaul, but I think some of their more "modern" elements (the helmet stripes, the pants stripes) have gotten very tired, and at least needed a decent tweek. More traditional stripes on both helmet and pants, and more importantly, stripes that match would've helped. Oh, well... no change is better than some silly all-black ugliness. http://dstewartpaint.blogspot.com/
FiddySicks
Wait a minute, so they're going to slightly alter the logo but do nothing to the uniforms? Are you kidding me? I don't dislike the Panthers uniforms at all, but what the hell was the point then? Maybe im just not remebering it, but I can't say I've ever heard of a case where a team modernizes the logo and that's it. It seems like a failed branding attempt to me. If I'm a Panthers fan this would slightly annoy me. It would mean that the gear I owned was outdated, but the change is so minimal it'd be hard to justify picking up a new jersey. And frankly, even though the old Panthers logo isn't perfect, the classic jerseys with simplified logo is kind of iconic in a 90's sort of way. The new logo on the old uniforms seems kind of mishmash to me. And now I'm really starting to wonder who the second, apparently heavily influenced by Pro Combat, team is. VERY rare for an expansion team to absolutely nail their look straight off the bat, especially in the nineties, but I think the Panthers really did. A colour scheme unique in the NFL, if not pro sports, which is not only relevant to the nickname and area but looks damn good, combined with a design which was restrained enough to look timeless and modern enough to not look dated. 1 hour ago, BringBackTheVet said: sorry sweetie, but I don't suck minor-league d CCSLC Post of the day September 3rd 2012

Oh, well... no change is better than some silly all-black ugliness.I detest the helmet stripes, but I think the pants stripes look great. They're different without being overly piped or seamed or templated I think they are wide enough and bold enough to be strong, but the taper makes them sleek. Perfect for the panthers. The jerseys are also great. The block number font is (again) very "strong". I'm not sure they could do better with a custom font (especially not one that matched any of their wordmarks.)The only flaw is the sleeve logo. Why was it always a screened patch and not embroidered? Looks cheap to me. I'd add a wordmark under the collar, but that's about it. I'd also consider using single-color numbers. I think that single-color numbers can really enhance the other elements in a uniform, and actually tie the whole thing together better than outlined ones (though there's really nothing wrong with theirs as-is.) Kevin W.
the cowboys are simplifying their colors aren't they? green pants are gone?I remember reading that somewhere since the advent of HD TVs has made the coloration of the pants (which was done because of the way standard definition TVs were) is obsolete. Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions) King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

You say "missed opportunity", I say "didn't want to fix what wasn't broken".I agree 100%. Just yesterday I looked a picture of Cam Netwon someone had in their sig and lamented the loss of such a great uniform set. I am glad if it's true they aren't changing it. The only thing that would help the uniforms would be to remove the logos from the pants. Pants logos are bad to begin with, but on the Panthers' pants they pull and distort the stripes. Oh, and wear the black unis at home for the entire season.Seriously (disclaimer, of Panther fandom) I love the current duds. I think the 95-96 set is perfect, even though most on the board prefer the 98-2005 set with the custom font and the altered pants stripes.

Jezus_Ghoti
No new Panthers uniforms would be a shocker. At the very least, they should make some subtle changes (like the recent Lions redesign). Maybe a custom number font and a wordmark above the numbers on the front of the jersey. Maybe black pants, too. I don't know that they need to do too much beyond that.

I'd like to see them drop the white pants all together since they clash with the silver helmet. Any pants they wear should be silver or darker. Also they've tweaked, fiddled with & gradually ruined their look so much in the intervening period that it's kind of ruined the effect 1 hour ago, BringBackTheVet said: sorry sweetie, but I don't suck minor-league d CCSLC Post of the day September 3rd 2012
