Looks cool, but I'm surprised with Iowa's lack of creativity they didn't just go with this:

They are the same school that wore these:

Thoughts on Iowa throwback: *opens barf bag and vomits in it  :puke: *
A case of a throwback that doesn't look good.

Is it me or is that like a 10 yr old template?

these are pretty out there. are they actually a throwback, or just like a fauxback?

I like that deep gold and black color combination...for Purdue.

At least we now know that all of the old Notre Dame helmets were donated and not simply discarded.

I might be wrong, but it looks like the gold panels on the jersey are dye subliminated, instead of sewn on. I can't see any seams.

Put a blue outline around the black D (to make it more like the 2011 lacrosse helmet) and I'm in.  That blue looks darker than the jerseys...I wonder if it means new uniform material?

But this isn't just a generic NCAA shape. It's a generic NCAA Football shape. So even customized with conference names/logos, you know that it's football-specific. The round SEC logo could be for any sport, but the SEC pennant tells you it's football.
You're right, without the pennant, how will I know what sport I'm watching?!?!  :P

OK I'm calling it here...this multiple helmet/matte black alt/mix & match uniform sets trend is officially done.  when you have non-relevant programs like Duke and Eastern Michigan attempting to jump on the Oregon bandwagon, the fad has run it's course.

can't wait until next season when teams start paring back and going minimal in order to stand out from the rest of the mix/match/alt color/matte kooks

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game.  They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White.  Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base.  In the sand.  With no ice.  Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather.  Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Yeah, I have to admit, I like 'em too. That particular design actually translates to the modern uniform better than I expected it would, in my humble opinion. I would have preffered a throwback to the Kinnick set, but this still isn't bad by any means (and I assume there's a particular reason this set is being thrownback to).

1921-22, according to the press release. The team went 7-0 in each of those two seasons. And the design seems to match up with at least one pro design of the era.

I love those Iowa uniforms. Throwbacks as of late (Redskins, Steelers, Hawkeyes) have done a great job of bringing old templates into the present. I love it. They may not all be traditional football unis, but some of them sure are unique.
