But this isn't just a generic NCAA shape. It's a generic NCAA Football shape. So even customized with conference names/logos, you know that it's football-specific. The round SEC logo could be for any sport, but the SEC pennant tells you it's football.

You're right, without the pennant, how will I know what sport I'm watching?!?! :P

Put a blue outline around the black D (to make it more like the 2011 lacrosse helmet) and I'm in. That blue looks darker than the jerseys...I wonder if it means new uniform material?

OK I'm calling it here...this multiple helmet/matte black alt/mix & match uniform sets trend is officially done. when you have non-relevant programs like Duke and Eastern Michigan attempting to jump on the Oregon bandwagon, the fad has run it's course.

can't wait until next season when teams start paring back and going minimal in order to stand out from the rest of the mix/match/alt color/matte kooks

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Love the Iowa uniforms...

Yeah, I have to admit, I like 'em too. That particular design actually translates to the modern uniform better than I expected it would, in my humble opinion. I would have preffered a throwback to the Kinnick set, but this still isn't bad by any means (and I assume there's a particular reason this set is being thrownback to).

The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.

Anyone have an image, or know the particular year(s), to which this set is throwing back?

1921-22, according to the press release. The team went 7-0 in each of those two seasons. And the design seems to match up with at least one pro design of the era.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.
