Kevin W.
Someone had to do it.Big time rumors saying that Chip Kelly will be leaving Oregon to coach the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Anyone think this is the second coming (or rather second going ) of Pete Carroll, in regards to NCAA sanctions? Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions) King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

pmoehrin
If Chip leaves, the Ducks should go after Chris Petersen and I mean pronto. It could happen. Your hearing his name mentioned in more and more coaching rumors which tells me he's at least open to the idea of leaving Boise State. I know he just signed a contract extension with Boise State, but these days that's not even worth its weight in paper. I don't think any head coach at the Division 1 level would ever sign a contract without some kind of an escape clause in it. Boise State might as well have given him a contract extension for 25 years. As far as Chip Kelly and the Oregon Ducks. I don't know anything about the inner workings of Oregon Ducks football or pretend to know like I do, but I know that program is dirty. I just know that where there's smoke there's fire. Besides all the minor recruiting violations you keep hearing about, there's just not that many out of state recruits willing to go to Eugene, Oregon simply to play for a winning team. Just count the number of times you see Cal and Arizona State on an Oregon commit's final list and compare that to how many times you see Oregon State listed. Now that's definitely a spot where some of the potential violations come from, but I wouldn't doubt that the Nike connection alone has helped out their recruiting a ton. Raysfan12
I think Chip staying in Oregon is smart, but at the same time is not. Chip can restore a once proud franchise in Tampa as he can help Josh Freeman with his spread attack. I think he wanted to stay because he dislikes USC and wants to beat them. Moving on, I want West Virginia to stay in the Big East that way College Gameday will to L'Ville and possibly clinch our way to a BCS game. If they go to the Big 12, best of luck to them and hope we meet them in the BCS game or Playoff. As Howard Schellemberger said in 1985, the only variable is time. Also, 2012 might be the year that the beast, the SEC, will be slain. Teams like USC, Oregon, and Michigan (facing Alabama Wk 1) might have a chance to be in the Title Game. I think that Boise St. will go 11-1 and wait, not to be in a BCS bowl. My teams in a BCS Bowl include the following; Orange: UofL or WVU (if they stay) vs FSU; Sugar: LSU vs VT; Rose: Oregon vs Michigan; Fiesta Bowl: TCU or WVU (if they move)vs Ark. St; Title Game: USC vs Bama.
Kevin W.
Chip's got a lot of balls sticking with Oregon when you've got to think sanctions are coming down the pipes. I think its the latter of the two. They're very quickly moving into no name assistant coach territory for their next head coach. Considering the candidates they started out with my guess is alot of potential hires said no.

dfwabel
Quick thoughts about Chip:1. He will go to the NFL someday as a HC because it is a bigger challenge. I don't fault TB or MIA since they are trying to not to standard following NFL procedures in hiring. In any other industry, you cannot be great if you do not think "differently". It may not work with Chip here or in MIA and the rosters of both teams may have assisted as much as the possible "private money" Oregon could raise to keep him via Phil Knight. Hell, Jim Harbaugh looked at the rosters first.2. It's about the roster. If Jim Harbaugh the rosters of SF and MIA were blind (no location), which would he have taken? Even with Alex Smith as the only roster QB, the 49ers had more 1st round picks still on the roster in key positions sine 2005. SF: Vernon Davis, Alex Smith, Patrick Willis, Joe Staley, Mike Crabtree, Anthony Davis, Mike Iupati, Alden Smith (drafted in 2011), Ginn (from MIA)MIA: Pouncey, Jake Long, Vontae Davis, OdrickSince 2005, TB picked: Cadiliac Williams (Out of football); OL Davin Joseph (2 Pro Bowls); Gaines Adams (deceased); Aqib Talib (close to a year ban); Josh Freeman (good pick); Gerald McCoy ( so-so); Adrian Clayborne (7.5 sacks 3 FF in 16 games)

thespleenenator
Interesting article about Darron ThomasYes, I know it's bleacherreport, but this guy does seem to make some fairly good points, and it looks like he did at least some research, which, considering how little BR articles do that, should be a reason to look at it just for the sake of the oddity.I still think he won't be successful in the NFL, but this article does give me some hope. Why you make fun of me? I make concept for Auburn champions and you make fun of me. I cry tears.Chopping off the dicks of Filipino boys and embracing causes that promote bigotry =/= strong moral character.

dfwabel
I'm really going to have to get used to touchbacks coming out to the 25-yard line. The BS part is that it only refers to kickoffs. Punts and defensive touchbacks are still on the 20. I am not sure that many coaches will give up that five yards. During spring practice, they are more likely to have the special teams coach work with the kickoff team to make kicks shorter, yet higher. After the majority of the season, AdvancedNFLstats.com (via drivebyfootball), footballoutsiders.com reviewed the impact of the new NFL kickoff rule.
