ESPN/ABC NBA 3D logos

I'm aware and I am serious, hence why I said that... Why would they use the old Nets logo and not the new one if they used the new(er) Bobcats logo?

Am I missing something?

Yes...clearly this is just some image somebody compiled of all the different teams' logos that they saw on ESPN. People have posted the possible source images for some. If you've watched Brooklyn on ESPN at all this year you'd know that they have their new logo. And it looks just as bad as the others.

Here is a different image someone compiled of the ESPN styled logos:

Imagine if ESPN adopted these graphic styles to their MLB and NFL coverages. Interesting to see how some baseball and football team's logos would appear if they got the same aesthetic approach NBA teams got here.

Hell, it would have been interesting to see the treatment NHL teams would have received from this graphics package, had ESPN retained full hockey coverage.

I'm pretty sure the Nets logo is the new one being shown from a sideways perspective. The ESPN pre-commercial graphics does these 360 degree shots where the "camera" pans around the logo showing the 3D layered "baloon" effect of the logo. That screenshot just happened to catch it at that angle making it look like the old logo.

actually it's just recolored. http://payload10.cargocollective.com/1/4/146448/2512046/tl_09_1280.jpg

I stand corrected. That has to be old though because they use the new logo as recently as their series with Chicago.

Edit: someone mentioned this a few post ago

The only one that I can agree with is the Miami Heat version. They just don't look right to me. Also, tbh I was fooled by the recolored NJ Nets logo. I'm not sure if the font treatment was too similar or they just recolored it. The shape of the shield gave it way though. The top should be rounder.

I would say that Rockets looks good as well. The rim makes a 3D impression of a 2D logo so it's easy to translate. Forcing the script in front of spherical ball, on the other hand, makes it really ugly. And all those animal logos remind me of making old cartoons in 3D recently (e.g. The Smurfs). I can never get used to it and it just looks wrong to me.

Is the re-colored Wizards the actual primary logo? When you go to the web site or look at their floor, the preferred logo seems to be the dc logo with the hand.

Can't remember the show but there was an ESPN-NBA program with logos that had animated twirling basketballs.

Something I have never understood about the ESPN 3D logos is the thing they have done with the Grizzlies. Their logo looks like the grizzly bear is holding the ball on the right side. The problem is, there is ZERO evidence of this feature in any of the 2D logos that the Grizzlies have. This false feature always bugs me every time I see them play on ESPN.

Where does it look like the bear is holding the ball? There is no ball. There are no limbs/paws.

Look at the right side of the logo that is navy blue, and look at the clear spot in the center. I don't know about you, but it looks like the bear is holding some sort of ball.

Didn't see the beaver then, and I don't see a bear holding a ball now. Am I broken or something?

Definitely no ball there, just the 3D lighting.

No because when the Irish came to Ireland and first came in contact with the leprechaun people, they didn't take their land away and force them to move west. Instead, the two groups learned to assimilate peacefully. However, certain tribes of the leprechaun refused to taint the pure blood and moved north into the forests of Ireland, only to be seen rarely, usually at the same time of a rainbows appearance and occasionally at the factories of Lucky Charms.

Actually, in the MLB: The Show games all of the MLB teams logos get the 3D treatment. It looks pretty cool IMO.

Since I like the treatment ESPN gives the NBA, I had to see what The Show does for myself. However, it looks like it's just the raised outline/shadow treatment. Not the full blown 3D, "jumping out at you at all angles" look. Still pretty neat though.

CSN also does 3D effects for all their sports coverage. Which I know we have talked about in another thread a couple months back.

Sorry to bump the post but since the 2013 Finals, ESPN/ABC has done not only the 3d logos but they use the studio to use elements relating to the logo, a la Early 1990s ESPN Sunday Night NFL intros.

Heres the link
