Lee Noire
They started this in the finals last year and made it full time this season. I love the 3D effect the logos have. They almost look like hollowed out hollywood set pieces, especially when they "light up." I didnt see a topic on the search results so apologies if this has a thread already. Here is the link to the only pic i could find of any of the logos. Its Miami's from last year.https://getsatisfaction.com/greyscalegorilla/topics/great_3d_logo_treatment_for_the_nba_finals
aci
That does look pretty awesome. I imagine it would be hard to make certain logos look truly 3D, but the Heat's certainly translates. Lee Noire
Can this be deleted please?Edit: guess this one can stay since someone commented already. Sorry for double posting.
Lee Noire
Yea some look better than others but from what i have seen they are pretty cool. I like the lakers and clippers treatments because the lines actually "hover" in front of the balls on the respective logos. They look like they have a real sense of depth
Old School Fool
It's alright, I'm just glad they fixed the awful NEON from when they first used it on Monday Night Football. It was hard to look at. Â
Funkatron101
Their Timberwolves logo looks pretty terrible.

eRay
I think these look like the worst things I've ever seen on television, Rosie O'Donnell included.I'm a Celtics fan so maybe that has something to do with it, seeing how our logo looks particularly horrendous. It has that layered, 3D effect down. To each their own i suppose
GFB
It depends on the design. If you have a pretty plain logo that is centered around a basketball, chances are it will work pretty well. If you have any kind of character or mascot like the Bulls, it looks awful.
Funkatron101
Since I saw the Wolves one, I have been periodically searching online for more. Not much luck.
JPDesign
I prefer TNT's treatment of the logos actually. The ESPN versions butcher a lot of them. With TNT its not full 3D forms like those are, but still adds light/depth. Can't find a picture of what TNT uses. Lee Noire
I agree TNT has a better treatment, I just like the fact that ESPN tried to make the logos look like actual set pieces. Like they were real life structures that are tangible. Love the idea but the execution fails in some cases
knnhrvy16
It depends on the team for me. There's some decent cases out there, but others are horrendous. Case in point, the Clippers. The only place that's correctly filled in as white is the ball, leaving the background behind the first few letters transparent. Looks awful.Personally, I prefer the old NBA on NBC treatment:They always did a great job of adding depth to the graphic without going overboard. It always looked sharp, no matter which team was featured. The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.
Sterling84
I brought this up to Paul Lukas a few months ago but never heard any follow up. I think it's very interesting; the idea of taking something carefully constructed and intentionally 2D and trying to not just light it for pseudo-volume.... But seemingly creating it in 3D. I've got some screen caps I can try and post later. The Hawks one is atrocious. Still wondering how the artist or team feels about someone elses 3D interpretation of their work. The Bulls one in particular takes an " All-time" brand and really dilutes it if you ask me. The Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR
CDixonDesign
Similar to this topic, i've always liked the "treatment" that the NBA on TNT crew gives team logos with a glowing "linear" effect...This is the best image I could scour up, notice the effect on the bottom of the Blazers logo:
OMMF
notice the effect on the bottom of the Blazers logo:Making one wonder why there is a Blazer logo in that graphic.
Lee Noire
notice the effect on the bottom of the Blazers logo:Making one wonder why there is a Blazer logo in that graphic.Yeah that was a total blooper on the graphics guy lol. The thing that bugs me about the TNT style is that they only add that effect to certain parts of each logo. I think for the Lakers the type has it but not the ball. If anything it should probably be reversed or done throughout. Thats just me though.
DaytonBlue
While the Grizz were still alive in the playoffs I thought they were hiding some the logo. The bear looked like part of its face was missing. (Yes, I know it's missing its body and it's the wrong color, but Bucks aren't green, Lakes aren't purple, Timberwolves aren't blue, Bobcats aren't orange, and Hornets aren't teal) "I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be." -Peter Gibbons RIP Demitra #
BadSeed84
Just saw the 76ers celtics treatment on tv.Celtics is kinda neat, but 76ers doesnt really work. And yet I thought one could easily make it work in 3d.
