The sad thing is, I like ultimate fighting from a pure-entertainment standpoint. It's 95% of UFC fans that make it unbearable to associate with it.

They're definitely sharp if you follow these three rules:

1 - Material/Color. The material should be thicker (preferably wool) and the color should be no lighter than charcoal.

2 - Suit up. You must put the fedora into proper context (like you were saying CS), and thus a suit is required. If you want to push the limits, you can lose the jacket and balance the fedora with a pair of suspenders or nice button-up vest...

3 - Positioning. The fedora must be worn like a baseball cap; on the top of the head with the brim over the eyes. You may not wear it like a kippah/yarmulke or snapback hat.

Working at a Wendy's during college, I've seen it all. One thing I noticed, they're piss poor when it comes to ordering food, and they'll order 4 of the same items and a drink. You also hope for the girl they're with that they get some food too, but they might get one thing, or they pay for themselves.

Are the nerdy frames a fashion trend for NBA players or one of those fun/goofy team building things that teams do like the Oilers and the ugly jacket or hard hats etc...?

I think it's supposed to be a fashion trend.  Most of the guys wearing the glasses don't even have lenses in them.
