CanesCop86
This is an easy cop out for the Astros. Bland, bland, bland. I don't see the fascination with the star and h logo. No more exciting than the current logo. People want to say that the current uniforms don't embrace te space theme but these new uniforms have absolutely nothing more to show its space team. You have a star that looks like it could be a generic sheriffs badge.I just don't see how people get excited about these other than having the nystalgia throwback feeling. The blue jays did it right. The Astros have not as of yet.
shaydre1019
Because its a way nicer color scheme. We're not gonna go out there in space outfits. And that logo is the easily the most popular sports logo in Houston. It is used widely in the hip hop world which is big in Houston. Everyone embraces it as a symbol of Houston and refer to Houston often as "the h". The current logo just doesn't have the same meaning and that's because it saw the most success. I'm sure cap sales will skyrocket too, most style caps I've seen use the h star logo as opposed to the open star.
FiddySicks
Wait, so the Astros are going back to the clip art star? No, if I understand what' being said here, the current generic hollow star is leaving, and the classic H over star is returning... in other words, great news.I can't for the life of me understand how anyone can like that awful logo over their current one, but to each their own. Lovely.I don't know what was wrong with the current Astros uniforms, other than they lost in them, which I guess is reason enough to ditch them (sports logic yay).Pinstripes never fit themThey switched between brick red team and black teamThey wore the alternates too muchThere were three alternates to wear too muchThe "Old West" motif clashed with the name and with the fact that Houston isn't even the Old West, anywayThe hat logo was terribleIt's all aesthetic, has nothing to do with the losing. The losing reputation is cancelled out by the successful 2004/2005 seasons. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

That hat logo was easily their best ever, and one of the best in the league IMO.And at least with the brick and black color scheme it fit their ball park. I never saw a problem with them not emphasizing the space look. It's not like they're the only team that has a uniform set that deviates from the team name a bit. Lights Out
Pretty sad how far the Astros have fallen uniform-wise from these classics: POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
The_Admiral
How? At least the old shooting star conveyed some sense of motion. This one just sits there with a side missing. The "if you rotate it, it looks like a NASA lapel pin" is about as valid as "the Panthers logo is shaped like the Carolinas if you squint and hit your head against the wall a few times." ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The best look they have had was the navy and gold.

The script is block and the hat looks like a sheriff badge. I could see the Rangers having something similar. If the shooting star was on the jerseys. I wouldn't be having this conversation. Without it, the set is ruined and the people that Stated that the current astro is not "space feeling invoking" should be complaining just the same. The "if you rotate it, it looks like a NASA lapel pin" is about as valid as "the Panthers logo is shaped like the Carolinas if you squint and hit your head against the wall a few times."Problem is that the way the old one was shooting, while a good idea, looked really wonky and crooked on an actual cap. That was my favorite Astros logo untill I noticed just how unbalanced it was on the cap. The current one conveys the same shooting motion (come on now, we all know that's what the missing side is supposed to represent), but looks more centered and balanced on the cap. It conveyed a lot in a really simple, clean package. The throwback is just a star with an H over it. It just feels so much more uninspired. It doesn't even feel classic to me. It reminds me of a generic logo you would see for a team in a movie.I dunno, like I said, to each their own (And granted, I never ewatched the Astos when they were in Orange and Navy and in the NL West), but I think it's a real shame that the shooting star logo is going. The_Admiral
The H-Star isn't perfect. It's not even good. But at least it has a letter in it. Other than the original Blue Jays cap, the best major league hats (St. Louis, either New York, Miami, even Oakland) use letters. I just find the unshooting star soulless and abstract. Honestly, I'm only really fond of my own Astros cap concept: ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
CanesCop86
Hell, just do something different and new even if its just a bluejays style update and atleast give it a space feeling. That's all I wanted.
JustABallCoach
The H Star is suppose to be am updated one, so we shall see. Someone on ClutchFans.net who is in the know said there are three hats and that an all navy one is the primary. My guess is: all navy, navy orange bill, all orange. The_Admiral
Thanks! I never was able to come up with a primary logo, though. CC97
Not sure if it has been made clear or not yet but the H Star logo they're using in 2013 is slightly different from the 1980s version... the primary is a San Diego/Washington special --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram
FiddySicks
Oh great, another roundel. Just what baseball needs. This set is a huge upgrade! Watch that orange color actually be red. Super unique!
