RIP to an outstanding logo and set.

Good riddance to absolute garbage.

Biggest cognitive dissonance between team nickname and style in the majors. I didn't like it at the time and it hasn't aged well.

Definitely not the best choice over the years. They've had two better wordmarks. Here you can see the progression (I know the color is off on the 80s style).

The new set harkens back to the mid-1960s uniforms. You know, the Space Age? Worlds better than the Olde Weste "South Texas Railmen" look they've been saddled with for so long.

Wait - I found something I hate about the set.

No orange squatchee? Contrasting bills need them for balance.

What is a squatchee?

"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be eaten. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you'd better be running." - Unknown | 🌐 Check out my articles on jerseys at Bacon Sports 🔗

Hopefully that'll be fixed before they take the field. I don't know why the hell they wouldn't make it orange.

Absolutely terrible. There isn't a single thing I like about this set. Houston just did something that I've never had happen to me before. They went from having my absolute favorite uniforms in a particular league to my least favorite. I didn't even think that was possible.

F- and an ENORMOUS downgrade.

But sometimes the squatchee is its own color, such as how the Dodgers have a white one, despite the rest of the cap being blue.

That's why he said contrasting bill colors. And I agree with him. It just looks weird if the button is the same as the cap color and not the bill.

Seriously, the open star was the only thing at all good about the black and brick era. The script was a terribly forced old western cript. At least the new block lettering has some history. Plus the colors are a million times better. And the old number font didn't go with anything aswear the new one looks traditional and matches with the lettering.

True, and the Mets added an orange one to their blue caps in the 1990s. The Giants had an orange squatchee going back to the 1950s.

My personal rule is that contrasting squatchees are okay on solid-color caps so long as the logos are single-color. YMMV.

But I think they're a must with contrasting-bill caps. It's part of the major-league aesthetic going back to the earliest days of the 20th century. There are no teams that don't follow this rule now, and I don't know when the last team was not to follow it.

About an hour-and-a-half ago.

I agree with that, I do think the squatchee and bill should always match.

So...you think this looks bad?

Right after saying paranormal activities I shut my laptop because I was Doing it at the time anyways. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm not crazy this really happened.

Wait, you were having sex and watching a uniform launch at the same time?

Yes, there was this paranormal activity thing to unveil Orbit

Clean and simple, great look.

BTW, not to sound crazy, but on my stream right after everyone was on stage and the non players were coming out, a news station broke in Saying something about paranormal activities. Now I know this sounds crazy but honest to god this happened on my feed. Right after saying paranormal activities I shut my laptop because I was Doing it at the time anyways. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm not crazy this really happened.

Hopefully with someone else?

Wow I didn't even realize that sounded like that hahaha. I applaud all who responded about that part, as I would have definitely did the same thing. But thanks about letting me know bout the mascot. Knew it wasn't any witchary on my computer or anything but was confused as to why that had anything to do with the 'stros.

Yep. Gonna miss the brick-red caps, especially. That hat was one of my favorite in the MLB.

The only thing I really like about this "new" set are the hats, which are pretty sweet. Other than that, the uniforms are pretty much the definition of "meh." Same with the primary logo. Too many roundel logos in MLB right now.
