People complained about Cats, Mavs, Sens, Bolts, etc. look up the threads. You just don't hear it now because it's old news at this point. Nobody is picking on the jags' any more than any if those teams. In fact, a hell of a lot less.

Makes sense. Some sound dumb, don't get me wrong, I just think mavs and CAVS sound fine, also have no problem with jags. The rest are pretty bad though.

I'm quite a homer when it comes to these issues (like IslandStyle, but with less posting), but this is how I take it: The team wants to brand itself within the British sphere, but that isn't there only focus. They've also got to make their brand appeal to the local and national eye in the States (because that's where they exist, isn't it?). I'd say that they came up with the Jags shield during their rebranding talks while understanding its unfortunate other meaning, so they decided to go with it to use with their US branding while turning a blind eye to it when it comes to their British branding. They probably didn't want to feel like their efforts in GB would have to bog down their identity here.

Tl;dr Not all of the teams identity here has to do with their brand there. However you feel about the identity, that's how I see it.

As far as my opinion goes, I live in northeast Florida and not a single conversation about the team here go without both sides referring to them as the "Jags." In fact, I see it as my true salvation from having to hear the rednecks that live here say "jag-WIRES." Not only that, but if they ever bother to talk about the team on ESPN, NFL Network, etc., I most often hear them say "Jags" if not the occasional "jag-WIRES." *vomits slightly in mouth* It almost already is a part of their national identity, so it isn't a "self-given nickname" as some have said. Being the homer I am, I'm alright with it being on the jerseys, though I could see how it could come off as "minor league" to some.

Also, I liked the idea of replacing the patch there with the Brit flag. It sure would sell some shirts.

Living in the outskirts of the Jacksonville market and making a trip to the city about once a month I'd like to point out that alot of people already called them the Jags before the shield was introduced so I have no problem with it or the Jags nickname. Case study: today at lunch with my GF ( who went to JU) a guy walked in with a Jacksonville hat on and she said "Hey look! He's got a Jags hat on!!!" If the locals and the fans use the name and appreciate it, I feel there is no reason the club should adopt it in an official manner such as the shield.

Doesn't make sense.

My bad, typed that on my phone. it should of said "I feel like there is no reason the club shouldn't adopt it"

They are the Jags to a local.

I don't think anyone has a problem with that. Fans generally have nicknames for their teams. That doesn't mean the nicknames should appear on the uniforms though. You don't see the Canadiens with a sweater that says "HABS" or a Yankees jersey with "Bombers" on it, do you?

You shouldn't, that's for sure.

Faker than Pamela Anderson. We already know that the Jags are getting a new font and those jerseys use the current font.

How can we be sure that isn't the new font? They are very small, but some of the 1's look like they could be the new "sharper" font. Are we sure the new 1's don't have a slab at the bottom?

Saw these on twitter. Assuming they are probably fake. Or at least hoping so.

I know it's fake but not bad. A little sloppy but not bad.

I love how there is all this talk about how the Jags uniforms are going to be super modern, yet the road jersey "leak" is essentially a rip off of the Colts, one of the most traditional looks in the league. And to top it off, they're both in the same division! If this is what they go with, they failed miserably, and the jags found some way to inexplicably downgrade from the awful look they just had. What a bunch of garbage. I really hope this is just some crappy chinese knockoff.

These pics are most certainly last year's jerseys that someone shooped an interpretation of the stripe biz from the leak onto, not leaks. The give should be last year's curvy font in place of this year's sharp font, as well as TSTP's link to the forum where that guy said that he made them. I'd expect there to be a lot more going on than what's pictures, though those stripes do remind one of a rough version of the Colts (when you remove the gold accent stripes, of course). However, I feel like there will be too much going on in the overall design to worry about comparisons to the Colts, let alone traditional looks in general. Heck, that mere chest shot we've been given had left endless room for interpretation, so what do I know?

Wat? We don't even know what the entire jersey looks like. We have only seen a small up close imagine. We don't even know what the shoulders look like.

Be less bitter maybe?
