It's hard to see, but when I look at the leak of this i think i see a tiny pupil. A pupil would make this logo 20 times better IMO

Looking at the leaked twitter photo, I don't think this logo is oriented right.

I think if you straightened out the fabric properly, the dolphin would be more parallel to the nike swoosh than angled upwards as this one shows.

I'm predicting something more like this

Forgive the hackjob and the dodgy sunburst, I just wanted to convey what I mean a little better than just saying "the dolphin should be horizontally orientated"

Just for comparison

I think that little swoosh of color in the eye all the way to the front of the dolphin IS a pupil. To me, it also seems like the "pupil" is bigger in the leaked photo than any of the recreations I've seen.

Can i ask a question that might answer the sun/ring of fire debate... Were dolphins jumping through rings of fire in the 60s? In a pre evil kineval world, I just don't see how it would make sense to draw a stunt dolphin jumping through a ring of fire when that stunt may not have even existed. There were some trick dolphin shows - seaworld opened 2 years earlier on the other side of the country - but idk if they were doing extreme stunts like that. It seems to me that the idea of that logo being a ring of fire is some kind of retcon for people that want to look at it that way but it just seems impossible for that to be the original intent.

Not super disappointed with the new logo (if, in fact, it IS the new one), but man, some of the other designs I've seen were so much better. It's sharp and simple, but a little... too generic? It doesn't feel like a proper helmet logo to me.

Yes, if anything the evolution is the reverse of your question. In other words, it was far more common then than it is today because of animal welfare groups and so on and the public's expectation that animals not be forced to perform dangerous stunts for entertainment.

Many here are way too young to remember but you know how Texas has their live steer mascot? Their first season or two the Dolphins had a dolphin in a big above-ground pool tank behind the goal posts in one endzone. After FGs and PATs if the ball landed in the tank the dolphin was trained to "nose" it out of the water to a staff member next to the pool. Looked but can't find a pic, just thought that was pretty funny. You'd never see that now.

Going back to the Jags, nobody has argued that "Jags" wasn't a common way to informally refer to the team and so on, only that it looks goofy on a uni. That's a matter of opinion of course but to me you just don't put a colloquial reference on a uniform unless it's like the Knicks or SuperSonics where it's just such a long name.

And you know how I always have an airline story? :D Well, of course I have one here. At my first airline we did the weight and balance manually (formed filled in by the Ops agent). The captain's name had to be on the form and one of our captains was named Meisetschlaager. Because it was so hard to remember the correct spelling and it wouldn't fit in the blank unless you wrote in about what would be 3-point font size, we actually got an FAA exemption to write his name as "M+14."

But that doesn't mean it would look good on his name tag. ;)

Yeah, there was an entire movie based off of the dolphin's kidnapping.

eh the logo reminds me of a generic create-a-team logo version of the dolphins.

Oh no it doesn't.

"Creat-a-team" logos on video games tend to look more like cartoon drawings. Seriously, like something from Animaniacs.

Old enough to remember Ace Ventura! Wasn't that the main plot of one of his movies? Someone stole the dolphin? I know it was a part of the story, at least, but it's been a while since I've seen it. Classic.

ETA: Beat me to it, but yup. Cameo by Dan Marino was the best part.

I love how there is all this talk about how the Jags uniforms are going to be super modern, yet the road jersey "leak" is essentially a rip off of the Colts, one of the most traditional looks in the league. And to top it off, they're both in the same division! If this is what they go with, they failed miserably, and the jags found some way to inexplicably downgrade from the awful look they just had. What a bunch of garbage. I really hope this is just some crappy chinese knockoff.

Wat? We don't even know what the entire jersey looks like. We have only seen a small up close imagine. We don't even know what the shoulders look like.

Be less bitter maybe?

I'm talking if the "leak" of those jerseys are similar to what the real thing will look like. It very well may not be real, but I've been here long enough to realize that there have been PLENTY of times where something has been leaked where we've all basically said, there's no possible way that trash is what they're going with, it's gotta be a photoshop job, only for it to turn out to be exactly what the team is wearing (or very close). And it happens especially often this late in the process. It's not being bitter at all. If the Jags go with anything similar to that possibly leaked Colts ripoff it's a major fail.

And I normally don't have all that much emotion one way or the other about these type of things. If I usually show any emotion here when it comes to uniform and logo changes, it's mostly positive. But one thing that really does irritate me is when these types of major changes are announced (sometimes a full year, or even two, ahead of the unveil) and when the full package is finally shown, it's a huge disappointment or a seemingly half assed attempt at a modernization that just copies a lot of elements from other previous designs. I'd rather see a crazy change that gets a lot of flak for going outside of the box than one that uses recycled elements any day of the week.

Does anyone else feel that this year's NFL changes have been handled in a manner that is unusually poor, especially on the Dolphins side of things? Both teams have waited so long to unveil certain important elements that my feelings have gone from being that I can't wait to see these new uniforms, to could we finally just unveil these damn things already and move on? And this is despite some pretty bad leaks that happened very early on. Maybe it isn't all that different than most years, but I kind of get the feeling that (at least in some circles, our circle) due to the early leaks and their insistence on waiting so long to unveil everything that it's going to hurt their early sales returns, however so slightly it may be. And if they do something really stupid like wait till after the draft to unveil everything then that decline in sales could be ten fold.

Maybe I'm overstating the place of those who pay as much attention as us, but it just feels like the NFL really needs to find some better people to handle the marketing of these type of changes.

Make judgments off of the leaked pic not the rushed photoshopped job that was done on what that person thinks they will look like based on the one leaked photo. Im reserving full judgment until I see the whole uniform. Im a die hard "JAGS" fan and really hope they turn out good. Based on the leaked picture I love what they did with the numbers I hope the nameplates are the same colors. Im OK with the shield. I dont love it or hate it. I am scared to death of the grey on the shoulder but it really is too hard to see what is going on there. How anybody can already freak out good or bad based on the leaked blurry photo of a replica jersey is beyond me.

Well then, there you have it. Coltwires here we come. Games at Lucas Oil Stadium are going to be downright brutal to watch.
