Post examples of the instances you think the addition of black to the uniform of a team that didn't tradtionally use it actually worked out.The first example I could think of... huge mistake for the Niners to move away from these.The Lions looked like crap with black originally, but I love how they use it now. BrandMooreArt Posted October 29, 2012 Share Posted October 29, 2012 never liked the diamond plate pattern, that kills it for me, but this color palette is acei love this one because its a better use of a bright accent color (yellow). its a subtle integration with a very striking effectthe face mask. its a modern neutral. i like (usually) when the mask/helmet are 2 different colors so it dosent look like its all 1 piece. this was a smart subtle way to get that effecti'll go with the Lions too, the black adds contrast and separation of uniform elements and completes a very nice modern design.i like the marron and gold better but this is as nice as a black alternate gets. the gradient in the numbers works because its subtle (not like Boise where its a blue to white fade) and it looks hot. literally, which works with their team name. its another subtle use of a bright accent, yellow, whicih i like. dont need to be beat over the head with an intense, loud color. OSU had black in their uniforms before the re design last year but they made it more prominent. the uniform now looks like a race car in some aspects. its sporty and fast. my favorite CFB identity, minus the Cowboy logo helmets they've done this year.
