Reports say Colorado is interested in ex-Kansas head coach Mark Mangino. Yes, that guy.

I bet it is hell for that sideline with him standing on it for over three hours.

K. Fixed.

Chris Peterson to Arkansas?

Just remember that him to Arkansas was last week's rumor too. So much so that the players were allegedly told of Petersen's hire before the game. Later on Black Friday, we all were informed that Petersen must give the AD 24-hours notice and that rumor was false. It did not help that the Arky fan page (razorbackers.com) which did tweet that news was from a Hog fan/editor who lives in Los Angeles, not in the state of Arkansas.

It was the first I heard of it... I also heard that Franklin from Vandy is the Hogs' second choice.

Franklin ain't leaving Vandy. He's building something special there, and he's stated that he's determined on creating a beast of a program in Vanderbilt.

Well, Vandy DOES have the second highest endowment in the Conference (A&M is higher), so if the will to get serious about football was there within the administration, they could certainly win a bidding war for his services.

Unless specifically stated, endowments may pay for plants/trees or to feed squirles but don't pay for coaching unless specifically to do so.

Look at Stanford. Even with a larger endowment, items within athletics do not get done without the say of John Arrillaga. He gives most of his gifts to athletics while the Hewlett and Packard families give their moneys to other parts of the school. Nearly all of Stanford's recreational and athletic facilities have the Arrillaga Family name on them in some way and John Arrillaga has a hand in construction since he is a partner in a leading commercial real estate developer. He was the silent partner in Athletics/Recreation until 2001. From experience, he controls Stanford athletics down to the HVAC in the student recreation center.

Peterson is a west coast guy and he can stay at Boise State pretty until he retires if he wants at this point. Hard to see him leaving for an SEC job with a program that has an uphill climb in an area he has no experience recruiting heavily. Recipe for disaster.

Franklin at Vandy has good job security, so I doubt he'd want to give that up to go take a job in a program that might not be as secure.

Unless, you know, he wants to win. Job security isn't everything. Can you see Vanderbilt reaching a BCS game in the next 5 years? If he goes to Arkansas, and things break his way, he can definitely break through that Alabama/LSU/Florida/Georgia blockade.

Yes. He went 6-7 last year, 8-4 this year, and they're rising. Vandy is going to be a good program in the years to come.

Chris Peterson to Arkansas?

The "source" for that rumor was an Arkansas fansite that had previously made up similar rumors for Les Miles and Mike Gundy. Plus, The Sporting News debunked it already. Also, Petersen himself has been quoted as saying that he doesn't like the "football 24/7 all year round" culture in the SEC, so I'd take that rumor with the world's biggest grain of salt.

Ha. I know the East is worse than the West, but between Vandy's academic standards and in conference schools with greater resources and much longer tradition, it's going to be a tough uphill climb to the top.

That's what the question mark was for.

All of Vanderbilt's wins came against teams with .500 or losing records.

Let's not get carried away.....
