Charlotte Ragin' Ric Flairs is the only change I will acknowledge.

How about just the "Charlotte Woooooooo!" ? Start your concepts.

There's NO WAY that the Jazz name will return to New Orleans. That team's name and history belong to the Cleveland Browns.

Clevejacked!

And yes, it is spreading...ahh!

So the Mayans were right. It is the end of the world.

So, Steve Luhm was a "Give the 'Jazz' nickname back to New Orleans" mole all along. :P

Not to stray from the jokes, but the New York Times took the "let's change every NBA team's name" mainstream yesterday. And here I thought it was just a running gag on these boards...

Ugh.

Containment has failed. Run for the hills.

Guess all those Doomsday Preppers were right. Every man for himself!

Well played, Mayans, well played...

Okay, NOW I am on the "Bring back the CHARLOTTE Hornets" bandwagon because the Hornets' identity is too good to just die off like that. Everything, from the color scheme, the uniforms, the Fleur-De-Bee (which is the only thing I'm sure is absolutely on life support now), all of it. Please don't let that die off, Charlotte. You are my only hope.

Marc Spears from Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Hornets are making it official that they'll change their name to the New Orleans Pelicans by the 2013-14 season...

Well, it's official. I'm not a fan of the colors (unless they go back to Red/Gold/Black), but I can only hope that this will be a good move.

Count me on now; I wasn't sure how serious ownership was before in rebranding to Pelicans, but it's now time to act. Charlotte Hornets v2.0 FTW!!!

P.S.: I don't support any more of this name-changing business.

I was still holding out hope that they'd somehow acquire the rights to the Jazz' name. New Orleans Jazz is just one of those names like Minnesota North Stars that's as close to perfect for a team playing a particular sport in a particular city. Although I'm still glad they eventually found something that was more relevant to Louisiana.

Now... bring back the Charlotte Hornets!

Really, the only appropriate replacement for the Billcats moniker is the Cougars moniker.
