Minnesota Vikings Logo Concept

I did this logo quite some time ago, but never posted it on here. Now that we know, or think we know, that an update to the Vikings is coming up, I thought I’d show it before it got compared with the new one somehow as derivative, etc. This logo is a reaction to what they have now.

I was trying to do a number of things with this concept: Created something less vertical, put more purple in it, use the horn from the current helmet, make it more bold, and hopefully get it tougher. Even after all that I still kept him blonde, but darkened his mustache and added a beard.

And the braids… All they did was clutter the image, as they do now. They didn’t help, so I cut them off.

I believe this is a very good start.

The issues with the hair & mustache to me need to be addressed.

I think the mustache needs some highlights at least of gold if nothing else & the hair need some refinement.

I think it would be a very good logo then but I would not think the Vikings would go that route.

The logo needs eyes. Fierce eyes would look great.

I agree with all the above comments except the addition of eyes. To me, just having shadows over the eyes makes human logos more intimidating, mysterious, and less approachable. What is strange is that you have the eye socket but no eye. Leave the eye out abd bend the cheeck bone upward and it should be an improvement.

Jaha, could you explain your suggestion here? Are you meaning to turn the rounded shape under the eye and flex it upward instead?

Are you out of your mind Jaha32? How can the logo look good with no eyes.

VikingBen, relax. Have you ever seen the NE Patriots logo? A logo doesn't need the actual eye to be visible to give the impression that an eye is still there. There are thousands of logos with no eyes, just the eye socket shadow. here are just a few links to human logos with no eyes, but just eye socket shadows.

rtrich11, you are right. I mean to turn the rounded shape under the eye upward or at least straigh across to make the cheekbone more pronounced. Maybe it doesn't have to be curved upward, but just not curved so downward.

I like the concept but would be sad the current helmet would disappear.

You would'nt change the Rams helmet or the Chargers helmet (or Bengals, Eagles) . They are different and historic. There's already lots of logos on side helmets.

But the concept is nice.
