Okay, I'll concede that point. So what is making the orange so less prominent on the actual photo? distance? use of colors on fabric?

Who knows...are they manufacturing them to exact specs?

All I know is what they list as "official". This goes for colors, measurements, etc. Doesn't always translate to what gets used on the field.

It's probably an optical illusion created by placing the navy between two lighter shades (orange and aqua) and the orange between a lighter and darker color (white and navy) which creates a "blend" effect.

If they would've swapped the navy and orange they wouldn't have had this problem.

The orange stripe on the actual pants is NO WHERE near as thick as the one in the drawing.

Same measurements for both sets of pants:

EDIT: Original pic had right side stripes reversed...might need to refresh browser to see correction.

Is that what the style guides show? They show how wide each stripe should be? I was wondering about the Jaguars helmet. It seems the fade from black to gold starts different on alot of the helmets I have seen. Do the graphics state where it should begin on the helmet?

Look how awesome the wordmark looks with just the aqua, orange and white. No blue needed! Drop the blue from the numbers and stripes and this looks a million times better.

If you replace the blue stripe on the helmet with white, then Boom. You're gonna have a good time.

Def not navy!

Or black. :P

touche, touche

Seeing the unis in person today. I love their new identity! Loved it on the field too! Loved everything about it! I can't wait to see how the sidelines wall look. It looked like they were about to work on it! can't wait to see how it looks

I love those colors as well, but I'm not sure I love the arrangement.

I suspect that the orange would "read" more if it wasn't sandwiched between the two shades of blue. I would have made orange the innermost outline color, against the white of the numbers, with blue between it and the aqua.

The more I see of this uniform, the more I love it. Shame about the logo, though. That looks even worse upon reflection.

If the orange shows up, then I think these are an overall upgrade. However, they would have looked better without the blue remaining in such a prominent fashion. The draft caps we saw that were just white, aqua and orange suggested that blue might only appear on the logo. They simplified, but IMO they didn't clean it up enough.

At a distance, the blue and aqua stand out. That's not what should happen on a Dolphins uni. But, like I said, if on the field the orange shows up...

Why are people giving Marino crap for putting on a bit of weight? Most of you will be LUCKY to look that good when you're in your fifties.

Hell, I'm 31, and there are people from my high school class that I can barely recognize because they've put on so much weight.

Sigs are for sissies.

I agree with Gothamite (as painful as that is :) ) in regards to the order of the color stripes surrounding the number fonts on the teal jersey. It would work so much better if the orange stripe was the innermost stripe. I know its a small detail that most people might not even notice or care about, but when you have a uniform with a more minimilist look all of the small details become much larger.

Look at your post. The sharp joint is crucial in the depiction of the number 5 in English. The numerals 0, 2, 3, 6, 8, & 9 are all curved, and 1, 4, & 7 don't have a 90 degree joint in the upper left corner (they either end or avoid it by running on an angle).

I didn't design the type (personally, I think intentional asymmetric stylings are dumb), but my guess is that if they rounded that joint, it would look more like backwards 2 than a 5. Similar to the way no one flips a P around and calls it a 4.

I suppose that's mostly true, but I feel like that wouldn't matter for a few reasons. First, the "5" in most fonts isn't really 90 degrees, although granted it's a lot closer to 90 than a "4". Second, if the radius is small enough, no one will really notice the difference (apart from us  ). Third, the inside corner is still a 90 anyway, so it's not going to be all that confusing due to the thickness of the letter.

Does anyone have a picture of all the numbers in the font?

I also hate how the name font style doesn't have the orange outline. So many teams do that! I'm guessing because it gets hard to read with so many colors that small?

I haven't seen those commercials in years. That's kinda like making a 'weakest link' joke, no?

I think he's still pretty well known for being a spokesperson for NutriSystem. It doesn't help that other football players have also joined the company touting their products in various commercials in recent years. Its still pretty fresh in many people's minds so its not like it happened while he was still playing. Thats why its still funny.

It helps, but only slightly. That blue is going to dominate no matter where you put it in that lineup as long as the widths are the same. As others have said, a wider orange or losing the blue completely would be better options to communicate "aqua and orange" first.

OT comparison, but the old Devil Rays unis had one green pipe and one blue pipe, but they always looked all-green in photos and on TV (and they actually had white separating them). You had to get up close to see the nice details, and if that's what happens with orange in the *Miami Dolphins* identity, that would be a shame.

EDIT: Except for the sun and Nike logo, I guess...
