NFL '13 SEASON THREAD

As for Peyton, he torched his legacy for good Sunday to such a degree that he's gone from top 5 to fringe top 15 QB all-time.

Marino never won the big game, and he's lauded as one of the best QBs of all time. Peyton, despite getting a thrashing at the hands of Seattle is still a Top 5 QB. At least Top 10.

No way he drops to a "fringe, Top 15 QB".

You're out of your mind if you really believe that.

Really. I would have to think of who my top 5 is, but if Manning isn't there, he's right on the cusp. That game and his post season record probably keeps him out of the discussion for the tippity top of that list, but to say that he is only top 15 (even though even that's pretty lofty status) is crazy.

If a team of kittens and puppies won the Super Bowl, this place would find a way to hate on it.

If they wear Seahawks, 49ers, or Patriots uniforms, hell yeah I would hate on it.

Manning's 2nd in career passing yards*, 2nd in career passing touchdowns, and 2nd in career passer rating. Post-season shortcomings aside, that's still pretty freakin' good.

*Blows my mind that Kerry Collins (12th on the list) has more passing yards than Joe Montana and Johnny Unitas.

Can't really use statistics anymore since the game has evolved both in strategy and rules to where passing stats are inflated. I think it's really the "eyeball" test that counts. And my "eyeballs" tell me that he's one of the all timers. I've seen Montana, Marino et al. I can't fairly evaluate anyone from before that era.

He is still arguably on par or better than Brady. The only ones that should be considered better at this point are Montana and Elway.

I definitely agree that Montana is ahead of him at this point, but I think I'd still take Manning over Elway. That's no knock on Elway, because he's definitely one of the greatest ever, but does he have near the stastical numbers in comparison to Manning?

Him getting to 5 championships makes me think he's probably closer to being better than Manning than I'm giving him credit for, though.

Sorry, but sabresrule is right. The Seahawks came off as a chest thumping bag of dicks. They absolutely earned Super Bowl XLVIII, no question. It just saddens me that teams can't with class anymore .

I have an honest question for you. We're both Cowboys fans, right? And I assume you're old enough to actually remember the 90's dynasty, no?

Did you feel the same way you do about those Cowboy teams as you do with the current Seahawks? Because to me, they're pretty similar.

Just got back from a parade with 700,000 classless, douchebag, braggadocios, bandwagon fans. It was pretty surreal, to be honest. Seattle's a pretty awesome place when people care about stuff.

It's been an awesome month in Seattle, and I've enjoyed getting wrapped up in Seahawks fever. I'm still a Bills fan first, but as a seven-year resident of Seattle, it's been a really fun time.

The NFL's Facebook Page has announced that the League has partnered with CBS to broadcast Thursday Night Football games on the network.

So to all those who say Goodell is forcing these games down our throats, well, he's pushed so far it's in our stomachs now.

The article says that 8 early regular-season games will be broadcasted on both CBS and NFL Network. It also looks as late-season Saturday night games are back too

Is Goodell driving to your house, pointing a gun at your head, and telling you to watch those games?

If he isn't, you don't have to watch them.

I was inside CenturyLink for the celebration and watching the video of the parade route was just amazing. A great day for the city.

I can't believe this didn't come to me earlier but...

This is the first time in 4 years the Redskins HAVE NOT defeated the Super Bowl Champions!

2010: vs Green Bay, W 16-13 OT

2011: vs New York, W 28-14, at New York W 23-10

2012: vs Baltimore, W 31-28 OT (Best Redskins game I've ever gone to).

For the record: The Seahawks currently own the NFL Championship Belt though the Super Bowl winner doesn't always control it.

Edit: I did think it was cool when they said they were bringing the trophy back to the 12th man. It's a cool way to "label" their fanbase, as opposed to the generic "our fans", or "insert team name Nation". The flags and retired number are a little much though.

They got into a dick measuring match with Aggy over that label. Annoying self-entitled stupidity confirmed.

The stupidity is on Aggy's end there. Other schools (Minnesota and Iowa) have been documented as referring to their fans as the 12th Man long before Aggy started using it, but TAMU still insists they invented it.

To an extent I did, and you make a fair point. I tried to identify with the players that weren't so self-centered, which was hard to do. I don't hang out with anyone that would ever say "how 'bout them Cowboys," but they sure as hell were hard to avoid.

Seattle callers I've heard on the radio are comedy gold, guaranteeing this and that. The team will go 19-0 not just next year..but the next THREE years. Pete Carroll will become President someday, etc etc. The arrogance is head-scratching.

I don't think all Seahawks fans are like this btw. Every team has diehards and/or blowhards.

I found your problem. You listen to caller-driven, sports talk radio.

A team that's celebrating it's first Super Bowl win ever, I say thump away. This chance may never come around again.
