rmackman Posted September 23, 2013 Share Posted September 23, 2013 I think everyone's in agreement that this version of the Bills uniforms is one of the best they've ever had. However, I always felt like they shouldn't have gotten rid of the red helmet. The jersey and pants are gorgeous, but now there's not that much red anymore. I created a Frankenstein monster and put Andre Reed's head on C.J. Spiller (that would be a great football player) just to see what a red helmet would look like with the current uniforms. The current white helmet suffers from a.) the retro-for-retro's-sake grey facemask, and b.) the fact that so many other teams wear white helmets, including the division rival Jets and Dolphins. The simplest solution is the red shells. They were iconic to the Bills and didn't blend in with the rest of the division. I think they should've gone full-bore and eliminated navy completely. You could say that a red helmet with the charging buffalo is iconic, but I'd argue that it's just the logo regardless of background. The red streak is the major feature that creates the forward motion of the logo and I feel it gets lost agaisnt the red helmet shell. I prefer white for one simple reason. It avoids my biggest gripe with football uniforms. I hate when all three parts of the uniform are different colors. And count me among those who always see the Bills as having a white helmet. The red ones from the 90's were OK but dont need to be brought back.
