I like the new a's jersey. Similar to the turn back the clock pullover they had 4-5 years ago. Anyone know where they are on sale?

These new alts are already on sale in team stores in coliseum. But likely will be available online.

The new alts are available online on the A's website. I wish they would've had them in double-knit too.

New commemorative patch for the real home run champion. Lots of retro themes this year for the Braves when you consider the BP hat.

2554awp.jpg

This is getting to the level of absurdity along the lines of disney where every year they find an anniversary to comemmorate: disney the company, disneyland, mickey, walt's b-day etc...

Enough of these made up events already.

Except this one isn't really made up. In 1999, the Braves wore a 25th Anniversary Hank Aaron 715 patch. The Braves also don't wear a lot of patches in general. Celebrating Hank's 715 is fine with me.

This season, the Braves will wear a jersey patch commemorating the 40th anniversary of Hank Aaron's 715th home run.

A patch for everything huh ?

.

What´s next, a patch commemorating when the coach took a huge dump, finally freeing him from a month long battle with constipation ?

:)

Great post

Why do some :censored:s here try to trick me into arguments ?

This is some weird :censored:, so i like english, then some fool belive i have a prob. with city names.

Christ man !

It's typical man. Any time I bring it up I'm called a bigot and a racist.

Yep, I'm pro-English only in the US which obviously means I hate anyone who isn't white. Flawless logic.

I'm glad to see someone on the same page.

If English was the official language of the nation, I'd agree with you. But we have a long history of multiple languages being spoken in the US, as immigrant communities hold on to their original languages for several generations before becoming fully English-speaking. We have this mistaken impression that immigrants have always checked their native languages at Ellis Island and spoke English from then on, but that just wasn't so.

In the early 20th century, my home town of Milwaukee had more German speakers than English speakers (German-language newspapers outsold their English competitors 2 to 1), and the Union somehow survived.

A few people on a Braves forum were making the point that Hank Aaron isn't exactly getting younger. Another decade for the round 50 years and he'll be 90 years old. It's a nice gesture that he is around for.

So the phillies announced their plans to celebrate 10 years at citzens bank park and show this logo on their facebook. Ummm shouldn't it say 2014?

1000954_10153851777405492_441810704_n.jp

I think that is right. 2013 would have been the 10th year.

1st - 2004

2nd - 2005

3rd - 2006

4th - 2007

5th - 2008

6th - 2009

7th - 2010

8th - 2011

9th - 2012

10th - 2013

11th - 2014

This would make 2014 the 11th year at Citizens Bank Park. I think this must have been an idea for last year.

This is the 11th season in 2014, but it's a 10 year anniversary. Happens all the time when teams celebrate the numbers of seasons or actual calendar years.

Are there two different reds in that logo, or are my eyes playing tricks? The "10" looks to be a darker red.

This would be a reasonable argument if English was the official language of the United States. It's not though so...

Damn, those Tiger jerseys.......scary stuff, even though i know it´s a joke concept.

.

But cappital92 said NBA jerseys with chinese characters are coming....that is a dumb move, then the NBA is mixing politics into sports, because alot of people have issues wth the way China handles human rights, animal cruelty, and the way they "train" children to win olympic medals, and other stuff, like pollution of our earth.

Stick to the Los Bulls stuff , please

Er, well, everything you just said could equally apply to the United States, but I'll just say this: The Chinese language does not belong to the Chinese government, it belongs to its people, and the vast majority of Chinese-speakers who root for the Warriors are upstanding individuals, not dog-eating, pollution-spewing monsters.
No doubt, but i still don´t want US based teams to have anything else then english on the front.

I guess this means the Padres need to change their home uniform. Would this also apply to the Padres, Dodgers and Giants road uniforms?

Yes, "City of Angels" would be an absolute killer jersey !

And Giants, well there is a english word that starts with G they could put on their jerseys, very fitting for the city.

Padres , who cares about them

anymore questions ?

I did infact say team names, not citys.......but whatever, you got the response you wanted

Coming from a Rays fan people not caring about you is something you'd know all about right?

What is this crap ?

What he means to say is nice glass house.

Me too. I like Cool Base a lot but double knit has always been my preference. Maybe they will offer it later?

Go A's!

Not that this is a surprise, but...

Asked a #Mets person if they will do a patch honoring Ralph Kiner. Was told plans will be announced shortly. So there will be some tribute.

you think the mets could put his name out on the wall like they did shea? kiner was the original broadcaster since day 1 of the mets and pretty much part of the team right up until the end of his life. other teams have done it fro broadcasters.

Mets, Jets, Islanders

It's possible, but Bob Murphy's name isn't there yet so my guess is they won't do it. I'm expecting them to do something like they did with Gary Carter: a patch on the jersey and a sign on the outfield wall for the 2014 season. It would be cool if they renamed the Left Field Landing seating section Kiner's Korner, but they could have (and should have) done that while he was alive.

Since the last date is 2013, I think this patch may be from last year. I do think that the Phillie's patch is correct. This doesn't happen all the time as you say. This is a rarity. The following are from a Google search of anniversary patches. The following are from the top image searches. This is how teams usually do their anniversary patches.

Angels 50th 1961-2011

Seattle Mariners 35th 1977-2012

Astros 50th 1962-2012

Islanders 40th 1972-2012

Orioles at Camden Yard 20th 1992-2012

Girl Scouts 100th 1912-2012

WIld 10th 2000-2010

NJ Devils 25th 1982-2007

Washington Redskins 80th 1932-2012

Ducks 20th 1992-2012

Houston Texans 10th 2002-2012

Texas Rangers 40th 1972-2012

BSA Troop 746 60th 1952-2012

Wrigley Field 100th 1914-2014

Stanley Cup 1893-1993

Bruins 90th 1924-2014

Shelby Cobra 50th 1962-2012

NY Islanders 40th 1972-2012

Dallas Stars 20th 1993-2013

Orioles 60th 1954-2014

This is just from the top patches that I could read quickly. I may have missed one that was done as the Phillies patch was, but overwhelmingly teams claim the 10th anniversary on the 11th year etc.
