Whittier S
So I'm still working on team names to use when I buy the full version of Professional Football Simulator. Stumped on a few cities, and would appreciate some ideas for names. Trying to avoid the obvious in a few cases.BostonTampa (NOT Tampa Bay, because I want to name it after the city, not the region)Pittsburgh (no associations with steel)Columbus (no associations with Christopher Columbus)Minneapolis (gosh, I live here, I'd think it would be easier)ChicagoHouston (no associations with oil)Thanks! Dan O'Mac
Boston: ShamrocksTampa: ScourgePittsburgh: Hard to do without steel, as the city seems to have embraced that... perhaps a different take on it and do Blacksmiths or Vulcans (after the Roman god of smiths)Columbus: I've got nothingMinneapolis: Lumberjacks... you can never go wrong with LumberjacksChicago: this one's got me, I don't have anything creativeHouston: Stars (that whole space program, the Lone Star State) I like this. Discrim
Houston: Lunars, maybe ChallengersChicago: if you want something that hasn't been used there, how about Bleeping Goldens? No? How about Mayors or Aldermen? Maybe Supervisors? Wait, that last one requires three guys doing something and one guy watching if you don't care as long as it's not Bears, then Bluesmen or BruisersMinneapolis: Blue OxColumbus: Buckeyes is taken...so...um...ah crap...maybe Redbirds? Sorry, I can't think of anythingPittsburgh: Stingers or Swarm...suggesting a darkhorse, BlackgoldersTampa: Typhoons...yeah, I know it's technically the wrong term, but other than that all I got is Tornadoes and BanditsBoston: going on a similar Irish tack, Gaels A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull

Burmy
Boston BrawlersTampa Tribe (no Native American connotations needed-a tribe's part of any culture)Pittsburgh VulcansColumbus Voyagers (more having to do with Ohio being the birthplace of John Glenn & Neil Armstrong)Minneapolis Bobcats (and we're naming it Minneapolis, not Minnesota?)Chicago BluesHouston Cosmos
Spearhead
Boston Shamrocks (as previously suggested). Houston Hurricanes, Toros, Buckskins. Chicago Bruisers. Pittsburgh Hammers. Columbus Whirlwinds. Minneapolis Steamroller
Whittier S
Some great ideas! Looks like I'm going with:Boston Shamrocks (kind of an old-school feel to that one)Tampa SharksColumbus VoyagersMinneapolis MooseChicago BluesHouston Cosmos I'm still thinking on Pittsburgh. Maybe the Bulldogs. Not a direct connexion, but I like the sound and it connotes a certain toughness we associate with Pittsburgh. Thanks for the help! BlueSky
One of my favorite all-time team names - the CFL's Las Vegas Posse - would work with Houston. Also liked the fictional San Antonio team name in Pete Gent's excellent novel The Franchise. They were the Texas Pistols.Cool helmets too although they'd never pass muster today because of gun violence. The rest of the uni looks cobbled together with the Cowboys' jerseys and Minnesota's old pants.
Davidellias
Boston - ClippersTampa - Snappers (Snapping Turtles are semi- common in Florida IIRC)Pittsburgh - Rivermen or Pilots (Ship Pilot)Columbus - Aviators or Bombers (Something to do with Ohio's contribution to flight)Minneapolis - Harvesters or Swedes or NorseChicago - LakersHouston - Rustlers or Orbits or Suns
Soarindude
Boston: Charms (Logo could be creative, Irish heritage, something unique, Charms sounds good)Tampa: Generals/Force (There's an airforce base here in Tampa. Generals or Force would be perfect.)Pittsburgh: IronMen (I looked and saw there was already a Concept for Pittsburgh Ironmen lol... But good idea nonetheless)Columbus: Cardinals/Racers (State bird or State Reptile)Minneapolis: Lumberjacks (I second this name!)Chicago: Gunners (Tribute to the most Violent city in America for its strict gun laws HAHA)Houston: Pistols (I also second this name)
DS729
I'd maybe suggest the Chicago Mobsters. It's really just a play on words and has a tie to the crime of Chicago.
Varsity Blue
Boston: Minute MenTampa: TarponsPittsburgh: IronmenColumbus: ExplorersMinneapolis: HodagsChicago: Butchers (meat industry)Houston: Javalinas (have - ah LEAN - uhs) very tough feral hogs from South Texas
