The Oakland Coliseum did not seem all that bad by comparison. Not to mention it is a pretty odd layout for any of the sports it hosted, particularly its sole remaining soccer tennants... They do the same at Miller Park. It's the huge overhangs.And it has been a blast going through this thread! This is part of why I came here in the first place. All these stadium shots are awesome and something that I've been searching for for a while! When I can I will try to find more too and contribute. I've never been there so I couldn't compare it though. A few years ago at the Pro Bowl I saw a guy get a REALLY nasty injury at Aloha Stadium because the platform he was walking on under the bleachers to get to his seats literally rusted out beneath his feet and he fell through. And while I agree that Aloha Stadium is awesome because it's on Oahu, it's actually in a pretty inconvenient part of the island (Halawa) in comparison to where most people stay (Waikiki Beach). Certainly wasn't the A's or Phillies. Not sure why anyone would play in a >100K stadium anyway, when there were at least two other stadiums in the city most of the time. I'm not even sure why it was needed for football, because besides the Vet, there was (and still is) Franklin Field. I know that for Army Navy they filled it, so obviously it was needed for that, but I'm not sure what the Stars attendance was like. Les Murakami Stadium has a pretty interesting (and large) design for a NCAA baseball park. But what really struck me about it was the odd infield with no dirt other than the mound and plate. And I can completely agree with your comment. Not only the stadium, but that part of town seemed shady. Not sure if either have improved since then.
