So the 2015 Rules package came out... Here is what's changing!

Testing
There will be a NASCAR-mandated ban on all team-initiated private testing in 2015
· Teams will be invited to participate in NASCAR / Goodyear tests
· NASCAR will not conduct a test at Daytona International Speedway prior to the Daytona 500
Rules
· 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race Package includes:
-- Reduction of horsepower to 725 via tapered spacer (no shock)
-- Roller valve lifters to replace flat valve lifter
-- Lower rear differential gear ratios targeting 9,000 RPM
-- Rear spoiler adjustment to 6 inches high (2014 height: 8 inches)
-- Optional driver adjustable track bar
-- 38-inch wide radiator pan
-- Minimum vehicle weight drops 50 lbs. via ballast reduction (2014 weight: 3,300 w/o driver)
-- Updated qualifying formats for all tracks
· Rain tires on road courses, similar to rules in place for the NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series; mandatory wipers, defogger and rear flashing rain light installed for the event weekend (bout time)

New Officiating Processes
· Data Log and Capture System for pre-race inspections
· Automated pit road officiating at race events
Newly Approved Parts
· Revised brake calipers
Updated Business Processes
· Electronic rule book
· New parts approval process

Here was the biggest shock...

Among other changes to the rules package are updated qualifying formats, including at the Daytona 500. The front row will now be set through group qualifying instead of the traditional single-car runs. The rest of the field will be set by a pair of qualifying races later in Speedweeks.

Ooh yay, we may possibly see racing in the rain in Watkins Glen. That sounds awesome, and would provide a very tough challenge for teams because you need to have the car tuned for sunny/overcast racing weather and also have a rain tuning that would be easy to apply to the car through the changes to the spring rubber and shocks.

Results from Dover:

1. Gordon

2. Keselowski

3. Johnson

4. Logano

5. Kenseth

6. Larson

7. Truex Jr.

8. Newman

9. Bowyer

10. Kyle Busch

Gordon & Kes look like true contenders, Harvick would be as well if bad luck didn't hit. Kurt Busch, Allmendinger, Biffle & Almiorla have been eliminated. The 2nd round begins in Kansas.

Hey Goodyear: Do us all a favor and get lost... in Northern Alaska... with a Polar Bear...

Seriously. Goodyear's been a joke since Indy of 2008. Absolutely pathetic

Jr Nation and JJ's followers are already on the case, no doubt.
Nah, JJ Nation is looking to banish Biffle as he got into the 48. BK, Kenseth (vibration), Harvick (vibration), and now Biffle all with tire problems

Kansas results:

1. Logano

2. Larson

3. Kyle Busch

4. Truex Jr.

5. Edwards

6. Newman

7. Hamlin

8. Dillon

9. Menard

10. Vickers

Goodyear really needs to get their stuff in gear. Penske is the team to watch out for this season. Logano looks good, Kes looks good. Although, I still think Harvick is the dark horse. A rough day for Jr. & Jimmie. Let's see what happens in Charlotte.

I think Larry Mac put it best about the Chase; you're afforded one mulligan. But that was under the old rules of the Chase. I don't know how good the "one mulligan" idea is for the new style of the Chase, especially after what happened to Aric Almirola; who's blown engine at Chicagoland pretty much eliminated him on the spot for advancing to the next round.

Richard Petty Motorsports has announced that Sam Hornish Jr. will be Marcos Ambrose's replacement for the 2015 season.

Still don't see what people see in Hornish. I don't think he's very good at all in the Sprint Cup. He's been really good in the Nationwide/soon-to-be Xfinity Series though.
