The entire Cavs set sucks. It's such a massive downgrade from what they had before.

Hawks are in red, but it looks almost neon orange on my tv.

I think it had to do with the special lighting at Barclays Center. I remember reading somewhere (probably this thread, actually) that they utilize a way of arena lighting - let's called it "showtime lighting" - where the court is highlighted much stronger and the crowd's lighting is dimmed much more, in comparison. It is supposed to give the court a kind of "stage" feel. I think the Lakers (among others?) use that too. I guess that is why the Hawks' unis popped so much.

That being said, I think it was a really sharp-looking matchup. The Nets' black road unis look good at home, especially when paired with another color jersey, such as the Hawks' red alternates last night. Really nice contrast. The brightness of the Hawks' alts actually improved the overall look, to me.

On the other hand, I can't say I was a fan of the other color-on-color matchup (Grizzlies in navy vs Blazers in red). I think my main issue there was that the Blazers' players went sort of invisible in the red key.

Generally I am not too big a fan of color-on-color and would prefer the NBA to stay traditional with white home unis vs colored road unis. But then again, I much prefer color-on-color over that nonsense that is the inverted matchups, when the home team is in their road unis and the road team in white. That has been bothering me for years, I just don't see the point in it. To me, those games are like the "sleeved jerseys" of uni matchups.

EDIT: I watched footage from the Blazers game on another screen, and "invisibilty" in the key wasn't really a problem there. Still no fan of the matchupp, though.

I agree. The wine jerseys are actually my favourites from their set. I'm sad that they just wear these so rarely now.

I strongly disagree! Their Navy uniforms are the BEST ones in their set. 2nd is the Gold alt. Wine/gold road is a great color combination but the font on the wordmark is sooo bad. Cavaliers or Cleveland looks so bad. CAVS is wine and gold..no problem.

Just my opinion

Yes the Navy jersey is the best in terms of nickname, having outlines unlike the other jerseys, etc. but it is annoying that their 4th jersey has been the most worn by far over the past 30 games. Over the course of the first 60 games they wore the jersey one time and now all of a sudden they have a love affair with it.

They keep marketing ourselves as the "Wine & Gold" yet every playoff poster they show has us in Navy...and they already confirmed even more jerseys next year.....

They need to go ahead and do a total rebrand sticking with wine/gold and maybe lightening up the navy so it contrast better with the wine

The Heat have worn their red alts in the playoffs the last 4 seasons, so this no alt rule doesn't exist. And if it ever did exist, nobody follows it, so that pretty much means it doesnt exist

There was a rule, at least five years ago. I'm not sure if it's still in place, but teams had to either pick one dark jersey for the entire playoffs (road or alt) or get approval from the league before switching. The Cavaliers were fined for this in 2010.

Well in that article, it says it "strongly suggests" them to stick with one uniform. Now the throwbacks are different than alts, so maybe that was the difference. Because for years in the playoffs, teams have worn their alts during the playoffs along with their standard road uniforms. The only times I have seen non-standard uniforms worn was that Los Suns incident and the ABA throwbacks when the Nets and Spurs met in the Finals

Go A's!

I mentioned a few days ago about the different number fonts on the banners hanging at the Sixers workout facility...now there is a story floating locally about a potential logo adjustment...(not Ben Franklin related).....

http://www.crossingbroad.com/2014/07/could-the-sixers-be-making-the-most-minor-tweak-to-their-logo.html

Mentioned in the Crossing Broad article, here are the practice jerseys:

Is it me or does the new basketball on the 76ers logo look exactly like the one on the NY Knicks logo, albeit flipped horizontally?

Wow.

If this is indeed an official logo then it is one of the dumbest, laziest things I've ever seen.

I can't see this being anything to go off of. This logo looks like it was thrown together last minute. The 7 looks beveled, the blues are darker than what they've officially been pushing, and overally the lines in relation to the wordmark look sloppy and awkwardly chopped. We would've seen any changes on draft night, rather than a Big 12 post

I think I've found the culprit, and on this very same board, no less. Perhaps habsfan1 works for the Big12?

At least they changed the curves and added a roundel element. Other than that, the new logo is basically the same as this one.

Nope. I do not work for them. Although it's not the first time a concept of mine got used for a sports site.

I'm a bit surprised they used my quick Photofilter job for their website, though.

I've always felt that a slight change with this alt to the current colors, and you have the basis for a nice set. It's the Cavs jersey I actually own as well.

I HATED this blue uniform. I thought it was wayyy too much. They looked like clowns out there. I also don't think the LeBron Era 1.0 uniforms were better than the Kyrie/LeBron 2.0 uniforms. I think the minimalistic approach to the Wine and Gold uniforms are fantastic. I think the colors contrast better than LeBron 1.0, as the uniforms from that era all seemed dull and muted.

Ha, I was actually just about to post that this was the best jersey in franchise history. To each his own...

Their best jersey sets easily...the blue was the best one!!! Guess this board is really split 50/50 on any Cavs uniform set

Looks like a design for the chair legs.

Yep. Those are the seat numbers since those chairs are different than the normal arena seat.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
