According to The Palm Beach Post, while pitching the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County and potential investors on his plans to bring a Major League Soccer expansion franchise to South Florida, David Beckham revealed three possible team identities - as well as a potential logo and uniform - for the team.

According to the newspaper, sources within the Beckham group said that identities currently under consideration are Miami Vice, Miami Current, and an undisclosed name tied to a corporate sponsor. They are not necessarily the only names under consideration, but were the only names mentioned during the pitch sessions.

As for the potential logo and uniform mock-ups that were used in the pitches...

Well, at least it won't be Golden Balls FC.

I don't see this venture ending well at all. I think becks picked miami more out of where he prefers to holiday as opposed to which market could best support an expansion franchise. On the bright side the city may be able to save a few hundred million $$$ by converting the marlins stadium into a soccer stadium once the mlb club either moves or folds.

I'll eat my shoe if this team actually is named Miami Vice. I'm fine with the colors but...he cannot be serious with that f***ing name.

(MLF) Chicago Cannons,  (IHA) Phoenix Firebirds - 2021 Xtreme Cup Champions

(WAFL) Phoenix Federals - WAFL World Bowl XII Champions (Defunct)

Time to start from scratch, fellas. Nothing good in those first drafts.

After the initial expansion announcement, Beckham posed for photos with the Southern Legion, their Supporters Group:

In the absence of a team, the Southern Legion based their colors on the Miami-Dade County flag.

Guess they thought the green was too Sounder-ish.

I can't be the only one who hopes that Beckham's team is an unmitigated disaster. It was disgusting watching the league bend over backwards to favor him and the Galaxy and I dread the things they'll do to make sure he succeeds as an owner.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

well like it or not aeg basically subsidized mls through it's very lean years and it's very likely the league would have folded...aeg essentially bankrolled league operations at a time when multiple franchises were folding before they were able to find stability...part of what's brought mls to it's point of sustaining popularity and mainstreaming was the beckham barstorming contract and part of that was a franchise at a discount.

quite often we see that what's good for business is not always what's fair and equitable.

Am I the only one that really likes this design? Fits with the Miami theme. Pink is an awesome color if utilized correctly, and the logo isn't have bad. While I can't stand the Marlins "corporate" look, the name Vice and the corporation style works much better in soccer than in baseball. I approve that look. Defenitely would put them in the "above mid table" class of uniforms for the MLS

Aqua, black, and pink. You can name them whatever you want but please no more light blue tones.

I believe it was an Arena Football team, I could and probably am wrong.

Technically, yes. But they only played the first "Test Game" in 1987 (could have been 1986) and never actually played a real AFL game.
