I hope it isn't anything like:

If they have a damn Jaguar style fade, I am going to friggen freak out... where the hell is prozac!

I actually like that logo, but the helmet shouldn't be silver. Of course this is just a prototype, but still...

I fear the Bucs are going to go the road of the Chargers. The Chargers looked great, and had an incredible throwback look. Instead of going to the throwback as the fans wanted, they made a mishmash pile of yellow-and-blue-makes-green crap with their current set. The Bucs look good now, and I loved their creamsicle set. However, I'm guessing the next set (if it actually is a change) will be a "make everybody happy" thing which fails to make anybody happy.

It's just a new helmet, not new uniforms.

how do you know? why change the helmet if you aren't at least going to alter some of the rest of your look

It's just a new helmet, not new uniforms.

A new helmet, a new logo, and possibly a new color scheme suggests new uniforms, does it not?

I'm hoping for orange and pewter to be emphasized with red relegated to trim.

I feel pretty confident saying the team would announce it planned to unveil new uniforms if it had new uniforms to unveil. All we've heard is that the team will unveil a new helmet.

Maybe uniforms are coming, but I doubt we see any this week.

The new helmet will likely be white so they avoid the issue of not being able to wear their throwback uniforms last season due to the concussion rules. With a new white helmet, they'll just need to swap out the decals to go back to Bucco Bruce.

I don't know - you don't overhaul your entire identity (which expands much further than just a helmet) in order to be able to wear a particular throwback uniform 2x / year.

If it's white, it is likely not because of that. It may be a consideration, but certainly not the driver for the change.

no one is saying the uniform will be unveiled then, most are saying around draft time in april the uniforms will be unveiled but they will definitely have new uniforms when they have new helmets.

Maybe they're going the Jaguars route and unveiling a pewter-fading-into-creamsicle helmet.

That would look like vomit. Pewter and orange look terrible together.

Yeah they do.

Why do some of you knuckleheads want to see this?

No it wouldn't. There have been plenty of bright orange/pewter concepts before and none of them worked.

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!

There's no way you can say this with any certainty.

We are all just guessing, but I think relatively minor changes to the helmet and no changes to the uniform is the most likely outcome (at least until we get more info).

As others have said, I expect some kind of texture on pewter helmets (like Rutgers) and chrome facemasks (like Baylor). A modified logo on the sides.

Oh God. I'm terrified now. The Bucs shouldn't touch a single element of their uniforms IMO. If they switch to Florida Orange and Pewter, I'm probably gonna have to go tumbling off of that wagon for good.

A uniform change may seem like a dumb reason to ditch a team, but one of the biggest reasons I've always liked the Bucs is because of their last uniform switch.

They need to just keep their current set and leave those double orange monstrosities in the past where they belong.

Hey hey--you mind your tongue, moor. :P Some of us were fans well before red and pewter was even thought of over here. (And plus, don't I remember you once mentioning you were attracted to the Buccaneers because of the orange, in that it reminded you of the Tennessee Volunteers orange, where either you had some family or were a fan of that team previously?)

As much as it'd elate every single fiber of the core of my Florida-born-and-bred being to see my Buccaneers revive and reclaim their old orange and white (+ red), as long as the Glazer boys are running the show, I don't see that happening--that red and pewter sells too well. And now that the league has that one-helmet rule, I doubt we'll see the original uniforms for a while, if at all--unless I have something to say about it. B) **UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT*** Even though right now I'm having difficulty coming up with a way to improve upon it, the red and gray, not to mention pretty much the entirety of Tampa's logo and idenity package, got stale on me a good couple years ago. Part of it is because even through I love Osaki's illustration style, this particular set is really showing its age. The other thing is that thanks to Nike shoving its anthracite up into dang near every single one of the college teams they outfit, and adidas and UA following suit with some of their programs, Tampa's pewter has really begun to lose its luster to me--its no longer unique.

Speaking of which...many around here clamor for a mash of orange and pewter, and have been for years. Orange and "gray" CAN look good together...but in all my Creamerite existence I've yet to see a single concept that makes it work or look even halfway good for the Buccaneers.

I've been a Bucs fan since 1994, mainly because of the similarity to the Vols, but I REALLY got into them their first game vs the 49ers in their new duds.

And, sigh, I'll still be a fan. I'm stuck with this team. I can say all I want that I'll ditch them, but that'd just feel like kicking my developmentally challenged baby out of a moving car. I'm a cold hearted monster, but even I couldn't bring myself to do that :P

But MY GOD is it gonna suck to see them look just as terrible as they play. I see some horrible mishmash of orange, pewter, and red all topped off with an effeminate looking skeleton pirate. That I'm NOT COOL with.

Unless the Spanos count as "everybody," I don't think the Chargers' redesign was a "make everybody happy" redesign. How they chickened out at the last second and stuck with navy is beyond me. Going with the powder blues in their current set would be about the only way to salvage their current look--and hey, no yellow-and-blue-makes-green!

Right, that's what I'm saying. The fans wanted light blue, but Spanos wanted navy. So he figured that shoehorning light blue into the scheme would make everybody happy. In reality, it looked like crap, nobody was happy with it, and it made everything worse. The Chargers had two great uniforms to choose from, and instead they chose "No." I hope the Bucs don't make the same mistake.

I really don't think the helmet will be white as it will not go well with the rest of the uniform (provided they don't change), unless they drop the pewter pants and only wear the white pants from this point forward (which would be a huge downgrade as the pewter pants paired with the red or white jersey looks amazing!)

This thread has taken a fantastic turn. First, good to see you, Buc...maybe it's me but it felt like you belonged on a milk carton lately. Then I got 3 lols...gray rights, the mournful Starry Night line and the headstone for the Bucs helmet. Definitely needed those yuks today.

The reveal will be interesting to say the least. The Bucs are calling it an enhanced logo but in my experience, when organizations say "enhanced" it always ends up being worth of Inigo Montoya. "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Ha! I had a handful of friends back in the 80's that started following the Bucs because of their creamsicle unis.

One of them quit paying attention to them when they switched to the pewter.

I fall into that category. From 1976 to 1996, my two favorite teams were the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since 1996, my one favorite team has been the Cincinnati Bengals. I've been indifferent to the Buccs since they changed. It was all about the helmets and the uniforms.

In 1977, the ABC tv series What's Happening aired an episode where one of the characters has a fool-proof system for picking football winners. When he shares a tip to choose the Bucs over the powerful Raiders and the bet is a loser, he reveals that his tie-breaking criteria for picking the Bucs was that "he liked the helmets".
