The pitch clock is already in the rulebook. Umpires just need to enforce it. Olbermann nailed it, as usual, on game length:

Also, when did Bud Selig start sounding like a guy who hangs out at a supper club in Oconomowoc?

Blame the Mariners marketing department, that's their new twitter profile pics! Seems like they're finally seeing the light. Ironic, since yesterday was supposedly the 22nd anniversary the Mariners introduced the North Atlantic Treaty Organization logo as their own and their new color scheme which belongs back in the early 1990s as well.

Get on board the "Good Ship Mariner" in reality, the USS Mariner.

I would if not for a personal aversion to boarding flag-of-convenience vessels with their attendant safety hazards.

Then why are they using a logo that belongs back in the '70s?

It's a logo that belongs in the here and now. You know it, I know it. As a Mariners fan, I have eliminated most of their 1993-present identity from my collection and they're playing meaningful games down the stretch. That tells me something. I'm a proponent of the great star trident logo. I'm a proponent of the Ultimate Baseball Look. The Mariners are within striking distance of the A's and Royals and it's because of the star trident and the blue and gold, the true colors of Major League Baseball in the Pacific Northwest, not the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
