Pros: Cricket is an awesome high scoring game

Cons: There is no Cricket league in America

I was working on an idea for the American cricket league (ACL) It has 16 teams and it plays one inning for each team

It goes as follows

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Ottawa Monarchs

Nashville Acoustics

Atlanta Stars

Toronto Kings

Orlando Seminoles

Philadelphia Revolution

Boston Minutemen

Cincinnati Serpents

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Las Vegas Lightning

Portland Loggers

Chicago Ice-Breakers

Anaheim Sharks

LA Suns

Arizona Dragons

Denver Altitude

Seattle Orcas

Can there be an American Cricket League?

What do you think?

I could definitely see an American Cricket League. There is plenty of support for a national league due to the number of foreigners in the US from countries where cricket is even to or bigger than football. I would see a team in Vancouver due to its large Pakistan/Indian/hindu population rather than Las Vegas or Arizona

Love cricket, through and through. Australian KFC T20 is starting soon isn't?

Cricket season is almost over here. The World T20 championships start this week in Bangladesh though.

And there are two great rivalries in cricket, Australia vs England and Pakistan vs India, the rest sort of just happens around the edges of those two. Australia have had great rivalries at times with India, West Indies, South Africa but they don't compare to the one with England. And I'm sure Indians and Pakistanis tell similar stories.

I could even see one here in Edmonton... EDCL (Edmonton District Cricket League) is giant here. Indians, mostly. Some Australia, Pakistan, England, West Indies, etc...

I didn't even know that there was a full cricket ground in the US, especially with 20,000 capacity.

Here in Victoria we have a cricket ground at Beacon Hill Park. The ground and club house has been around for over 100 years. It doesn't have any fitted seats but great views at all angles with the nice sea breeze blowing across the surrounding tree tops. Victoria District Cricket Association has been using the ground for numerous years plus has been hosted many high profile matches.

I recently watched a documentary on cricket in modern-day America by ESPNCricinfo and how it can grow, and much of it was filmed in that ground in Florida. They just built it, it looks very nice. There's a rec league here in the Cities, but I think they play on a field somewhere in Minneapolis where baseball games are usually played.

Cricket has been growing leaps and bounds here in Canada over the last 10-15 years. It's only natural that the US will grow as well with the constant immigration of people from countries vibrant in cricket. That's what happened here in Canada with Pakistanis, East Indians, Bangladeshi and West Indians

No but I have been watching T20 highlights through Cricket Plus.

Would you be referring to Willow TV? I subscribed to them on YouTube and I know they used to be known as Cricket Plus, but they haven't uploaded anything from yesterday's games yet. I do like their highlight packages of recent matches, though. They're very thorough.

I have been watching Cricket Plus through Apple TV 2 repositories...never subscribed through Willow TV on YouTube. I think I should check that out. Thanks for the tip.

Wow Bangladesh is making short work of opponents in the Qualifying Round of the T20 World Cup. They won their first two matches by 9 and 8 wickets respectively. They are proving they shouldn't have been drawn into the Qualifying Stage. Plus the Irish are doing well in the other qualifying group.

It is a shame Canada's T20 team didn't qualify for the World Cup. I think we need more experience playing on the world stage prior to progressing in development. Unfortunately we are losing to sides like Afghanistan and UAE in qualifying.

As for warm-up matches, the England v Pakistan was entertaining. Looking forward to the pool stages.

There is a HUGE Pakistani/Indian/Saudi/Middle Eastern population in Arizona. ASU has one of the largest middle eastern student bases in the entire country (My apologies if Middle Eastern isn't the improper term. If there's a more accurate definition please correct me)

Well if that's the case, then we have two teams for the Western Conference :) Vancouver and Arizona :P
