1clkgtramg
I'm not sure anyone has done something like this, but here goes.Ever since I was in Grade 7 I have been drawing an entire city, Johnstonville. I have always been fascinated by Cities, Roads, what-have-you and I have also always loved sports and design; but I have never put them together until now. This idea of a city has expanded into an entire country. It would be its own island west of Australia, East of South Africa and South of India. I still have yet to name it, but I have a few City, State/Province, County names. It is very similar to Canada with some added American, European, Austra-Japanese Elements. The population is about 60 million with the largest Metro area being around 8 million people. I won't bore you guys anymore with some useless fantasy that doesn't relate to the sports. So to start it off I have chosen the capital of my country; Johnstonville, New Ontario. (That's the Province of New Ontario). The city's colours are Cookies and Cream so most of the concepts will consist of that colour scheme. "What a strange colour combination!" Yes, it is, but it's unique. The reasoning behind this was when I first made the city - which is now just downtown - I used names of Chocolate companies to name some of the streets. I guess I had a sweet tooth when I was a kid. Due to the limit on Outsourcing Jobs in my country, Hershey's built a plant and office in Johnstonville to be the HQ of Hershey's in the Eastern World. As well as a few other chocolate companies having offices in the city and then later moved to Greenfield, New Ontario. Also having the same colour scheme makes it a little easier - as this is kind of a sample to see if I can handle all of these sports - the team will have the same name. The name is after the F-117 Nighthawk. "BUT THAT'S MADE IN CALIFORNIA!" It's made in Johnstonville in my world and is really the only involvement my country has with war. My goal is to make entire professional leagues for the entire country. So think of it in the style of High School or College for now, where all the sports have the same name. So far the Major Sports I have in mind are:Hockey (the Ice kind, not that field stuff)Women's Hockey (possibly)Football (the Canadian kind, bigger ball, bigger field, 13 players, with NFL's 4 downs)SoccerBaseballBasketballRugby (Union, 15 players)Lacrosse (Indoor) US and World License Plate Redesign - Fixing the Elite Ice Hockey League - NHL to Soccer Crossover - European Hockey League Twitter

1clkgtramg
So here is the main logo that most of the teams will be based off of. Obviously for sports like Baseball and Soccer, the logos will have to be different to match their respective sports. It's not the greatest logo I have made, it was quite hard to use only 2 colours. I have another shade of brown that I am thinking of using for the chiseled bits on the aircraft. I am quite pleased with the wordmark though. I wanted a modern-ish look because the name is quite modern, but I wanted a serif font so I used a modified version of Columna - one of my favourite fonts. That's all for tonight, the Hockey Jerseys will be up either later tonight or tomorrow depending on the response. seattlesonicsofsacramento
I always appreciate someone working on something that they're obviously so passionate about. Cookies & cream is an interesting color combination, unique, definitely with a vintage vibe, which contrasts all the more with the stealth aircraft. I like the font, but even that seems to be working the Wild West aesthetic, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone said they felt the F-117 looked out of place. But, to my mind, it's just an interesting contrast. Looking forward to how you use this on various uniforms, and hopefully you add in different tertiary colors depending on the sport, or even different shades of cookies & cream. chibimatty
Have you considered using sports which all have completely different clothing in their uniforms? Soccer and rugby union would be the same template and style. Rugby League would be different from soccer and union in a design sense, though the template would be the same. What about something more obscure like cycling? Is there a mini-dress/skirted sport for the women, like tennis or softball? That would give you another template to design with. For something left-field, Aussie mainstream sports like netball, Aussie Rules or cricket would also give different templates and design criteria. I would like to touch on as many team sports as possible given that I have a template and enough knowledge of design and trafition of each sport. I was debating to have Aussie Rules, but I prefer Rugby so I chose that. Cricket was the sport I forgot. As for Tennis and Cycling, I like both but I don't see myself making entire leagues for them so I wont bother. I will look into Netball and Aussie Rules again though due to its close proximity to Australia and the fact that there is an Archipelago of islands/keys that connect it with my country similar to Key West. Hockey will be up later today. 1clkgtramg
So here are the hockey jerseys. I have a Reebok and Nike template, this template was made for my Women's National Hockey League concepts which I'm maybe a third done. I may make this one the Women's Hockey and make a Reebok one for the Men's just to have more variation. The shoulder patch didn't come out the way I pictured it. I wanted 4 Nighthawks flying in the diamond formation also representing the 4 Cup wins the team has. The stars represent the number of times they have been to the final; the darker stars being losses. The jerseys themselves have the template similar to Team Canada but the home jersey has a yoke as well. The striping is also similar to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Alternate is a throwback to the 1980's jersey when they first changed their name to Nighthawks from Jets.and yes... those are cream coloured pants. Ever since I saw Vancouver wear them, I just had to have Diaper Pants haha US and World License Plate Redesign - Fixing the Elite Ice Hockey League - NHL to Soccer Crossover - European Hockey League Twitter

1clkgtramg
Time for Baseball. This was really touch because I have never designed a baseball anything in my life.I tried to make the wordmark but I just couldn't. Eagle98 made it for me, I wanted a similar look to the A's as I think their logo and wordmark is one of the best in the MLB. The A's took their font from a modified version of Blackletter, so mine is the same idea. The roundel from the Hockey concept worked a lot better as a Baseball shoulder? patch. I tried to do a typical baseball style intertwined letter logo - if you will. I understand the cap logo usually doesnt contain the letters of the City and Nickname, but it felt too plain. Let me know what you think, if I should just leave the cap logo as just a "J".The jersey is somewhat of a Reds look to it. With the White jersey having a thin Cream stripe on each arm, thus removing the shoulder/arm patch. I was really happy how it turned out all things considering. Veras
First, let me say that I love the idea for this project, as well as what you've down with Johnstonville so far. The color combination is amazing.I like these designs, but I think they should be rearranged. The white should be the home jersey (that's just the way it's done in baseball), the brown should be the away, and the cream should be the alternate (it's too close to white to be a road jersey for my taste). Just my opinion, but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to uniforms, so take it with a grain of salt. Also, why does the bottom of the shoulder patch say 1990? You've already said that the hockey team changed their name to the Nighthawks in the 1980s, so I would assume that the baseball team had existed for at least as long. I too was worried about not having the white as the home. I don't mind baseball, but seeing Grey jerseys drives me nuts, thats why I decided to ditch it in favour for Cream. My plan for the Baseball League was to have similar Jersey rules as Soccer. My rules are you must have 4 jerseys, one being white, one being Practice, the rest can be whatever you chose, that way it farther reduces Teams looking the same (another reason I hate Grey vs White). That being said, the Home, Away, Alternate isn't set in stone as really either jersey can be worn depending on the other teams colours, it is simply a majority that the Brown jerseys will be worn at home most of the time. (That idea being taken from Hockey). I understand where you are coming from though. As for the years, I wanted to change it up a bit. Originally, the Baseball team was going to be the actual Nighthawks; then came the idea to test out all sports. The year I chose for Baseball to come to my country was 1990 with 6 teams starting it off. The Hockey team will still be called the Jets when I get to the actually leagues and they will be founded in 1956 with 4 teams. Thanks for the comments though.I noticed you are from Indy, and coincidentally the Provincial Flag and Johnstonville City Flag are heavily based off of Indianapolis' Flag due to Johnstonville also being the "Crossroads" of the country. First is New Ontario's Provincial and second is Johnstonville's City Flag. Veras
Yeah, those flags are pretty awesome. Do the 10 stars represent anything? And if you're not using white/grey as the basis for baseball home and away, the way that you have the uniforms set up is great. 1clkgtramg
The stars represent the number of Municipalities, Cities, and Regions (usually just Counties in the US) in the Province with the centre Starleaf as City of Johnstonville. The Starleaf gets removed for the actual City Flag and instead has a variation of the City Seal in the centre. TheGiantsFan
Another interesting series you got here! I myself have based a series off of a fictional country as well. I check in every so often but I just don't know enough about Baseball to offer much feedback. You do put in a hell of a lot of detail, especially in the stadiums. I actually decided to post info about my country because you did and it seemed like a unique and fun idea that really has no limits. 1clkgtramg
Moving on to Basketball; another sport I have never made anything for. I wanted to keep the wordmark for it, was thinking of having "HAWKS" on the Alternate but opted to use a logo - kinda - which often causes debate. I introduced another shade of Brown on the actual jerseys this time to make this whole thread look less repetitive. I may also goof around with the baseball wordmark on a jersey just to see how it looks. The logos arent really any different. He have your generic Baseball behind the wordmark - cough, Detroit... cough Lakersclipperscavs you get the point. He also have the logo over a basketball. Yes it's boring, but I think the one with the main logo on the basketball looks nice on the shorts. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel the wordmark is just too long of a name that it looks thin. Would "HAWKS" be a better option?\ US and World License Plate Redesign - Fixing the Elite Ice Hockey League - NHL to Soccer Crossover - European Hockey League Twitter
makreutzer
When I first saw the logo, I thought the brown would be way too dark, but in practice it really works. I, for one, like NBA sleeved jerseys.

JMtexan09
umm.... no offense dude, I thought for basketball part, the light/white color tended to be for home uniforms while away uniforms tended to be the dark color?
