2014 NBA Playoffs

What a shot by Vinsanity. I really hope the Mavs knock off the Spurs.

If only he did that 13 years ago....

Pfft. Like anyone was going to beat the Lakers in that 2001 postseason, anyway. Although the world would have been subjected to an interesting Toronto-LA championship series.*

*not that the actual NBA Finals wasn't interesting on its part

Overtime games between Memphis and Oklahoma City dating back to their 2011 playoff encounter:

R2/G3/'11 - MEM

R2/G4/'11 - OKC

R2/G4/'13 - MEM

R2/G5/'13 - MEM

R1/G2/'14 - MEM

R1/G3/'14 - MEM

R1/G4/'14 - OKC

This is nuts. 16 playoff games in these three playoff meetings, and seven six have gone to overtime. I love how Tony Allen has basically carved a career out of being Kevin Durant's antidote.

In any case, with their win tonight thanks to Mr. April, the Thunder have created a parallel in line with 2011, rather than a parallel in line with 2013. Given how those two years ended up, they'll take it. But would I be shocked if Memphis won either Game 5 or a potential Game 7? Not a chance.

EDIT - I guess that clinching game in 2013 didn't go to overtime; not sure why I thought it did.

This Warriors Clippers series is one of the strangest series I've ever seen. Dubs win a close and controversial game one, get absolutely killed in game two, nearly pull the comeback in game three, and thump the Clippers in game four after an emotionally charged last 24 hours. Whoever ends up pulling this one out probably won't get too much further.

The Thunder and Grizzlies are each looking very limited. Can't really rule out anyone in the West. Great playoffs out there.

It's playoff time, but basketball isn't even fun anymore, just sad and emotionally draining. Thanks, Sterling!

To be fair there's something going on right now that's bigger than going after a title. Then again the Clippers not making the most of this core of talent is a wasted opportunity. Series is tied, dude. Give it a bit.

Ok, now that the season is done, I can't post my sentiments about the Bobcats, seeing as they'll never play a game again...

So, 10 years ago, after two or so years after the Hornets 1.0 left, many people were reluctant to except the Bobcats, many were hesitant. I was part of the latter. But, out of interest, still bought stuff. My family and I went to some games in the first couple years, but never felt a connection.(Quite honestly, we also went to Charlotte Sting games and felt more of a connection.) Later on, I realized that the team was never showcased to the Carolinas as a whole like the Hornets. It was really Charlotte's team.

I distanced myself a little bit from the team in 2007, around the Adam Morrison years.(uhhh...) Then the magical run of 2009 came. The franchise's first playoff appearance, and people got excited again. After an unexpected (at least by me) sweep to the Magic, management, for some unknown reason, cleaned house, and as the players went, the fans left too.

And as many of you know, things got south quick. All summarized in the rock bottom year in 2012. Seven wins. 7. Then came the albatross of a title, "Worst Team in the League." Effort was there, but they never translated to wins.

After a bad, but better than the year before, 20 something win season in 2013, management seemed to pick up the fallen pieces, and string together this year's team. I won't lie, I had my doubts. But in a weak conference, anything can happen. Now, I feel like the future is bright for this team, whatever their name is. Al Jefferson is a guy you can build the team around, and with players like Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd Gilcrest, maybe they can string off a playoff win or two, or three, or four. It was nice to finally see some playoff excitement in Charlotte twice this year, and I wish to see it again next year.

TL;DR: "I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave."

Pacers fans, there's always the late 90's to look back on.

And the Bobcats have been tranquilized. The Hornets have a promising future though.

The Hawks are up 80-54 in Indianapolis. Chemistry: it's more then what you had to take for your science credit in school.

I think the only thing they have going for them is the fact they play in the Eastern Conference. Michael Jordan will screw this baby up, just watch.
