Whittier S
Hello all! I was gone away for two months because my computer died, taking with it my Inkscape files. Oops. This time around, I know that, just because I can't open an Inkscape file from Dropbox doesn't mean I can't save it there.I got my new laptop a few days ago, and what a surprise it was to go to The Clink Room and discover that one of my designs is going to production! Check it out here: http://www.theclinkroom.com/designed-by-clinkers/draft-day-spring-2014/So I'm inspired to submit another design. I've been dying to do a steampunk branding, and discovered that both Springfield, Ohio and Springfield,Massachusetts afforded opportunities in that vein, so I decided to have a little fun with the backstory.I'm having trouble with a couple of things. I'm not happy with the serifs I glommed on to the S (they're actually trimmed-down versions of symbols from a Victorian dingbat set). Also, I'm not happy with the outlines. I used the offset tool on Inkscape to produce them, but they got rather mutated in the process, and I feel it's not so clear that the negative spaces in the S are supposed to be gears. I also *really* wish that they had a darker brown fabric available for the crown of the hat, but they don't.Thanks--and it's great to be back. :-)
Whittier S
I tried three more steampunk colour schemes. Let me know which you think works best.
Whittier S
And I just replaced the black embroidery on the purple hat with what would be close to a metallic gunmetal, and then pumped up the outline, and I think I'm liking it:
Whittier S
Further refinements:The tips of the S now take on a leaf shape to better blend with the flourishes and to look more like metalworkI've switched out the rim from athletic gold to dark graphite to better fit the steampunk aesthetic

ingmar66
Great logo, great story, cool colours, cool hat! The purple and dark graphite works best.
Whittier S
Final update. I centred the S better, tweaked the flourishes, and changed the eyelets to gold. I'm going to call it a night on this design, and unless there's feedback that I should go back to the drawing board, I will submit this design tomorrow. Thanks.\\(Just noticed the crown got bumped over somehow, taking care of that.
