2014 NBA Playoff Predictions Thread

We usually do one of these threads along side the official NBA Playoffs thread. I'm surprised nobody has made this yet, so I figured I'd be the initiator. It's simple, post your predictions here and you can be as in-depth as you want.

Here are mine:

East

Hawks vs. Pacers

Too much talent on the floor for the Hawks to handle. Even though the Pacers are coming into the playoffs as a dysfunctional team, they should have no problems here. Pacers 4

Wizards vs. Bulls

This will be an ugly series to watch, but a lot of fun to follow. John Wall finally gets to shine in the playoffs as he faces a very mentally tough and physical Bulls team. The Wizards will be competitive, but Chicago has the playoff experience and that will be the difference. Bulls 6

Bobcats vs. Heat

Not even gonna bother writing a summary on this. Charlotte will be lucky to lose by single digits. Heat 4

Nets vs. Raptors

Just like in 2007, the 3 seeded Raptors take on the 6 seeded Nets. Either I'm being a homer or completely underestimating Toronto, but I don't see this series being close. DeMar DeRozen and Terrance Ross are great, but nobody on that team can matchup with Pierce and KG. And Coach Kidd knows Dwane Casey's system well since they were both at Dallas during the 2011 championship run. Nets 5

Bulls vs. Pacers

I have made it clear since I have been on this thread that I am a Pacers fan. I had them winning it all in 2012 and had them going far in 2013, but there is something wrong with this team. Roy Hibbert has self-destructed this past month, and Evan Turner has no place on this team. To Indiana's chagrin, they are facing a team that nobody wants to play, Chicago. Tom Thibodeau always gets his team on track in the playoffs, and this year will be no different. Paul George will win a couple of games for the Pacers, but the bottom line is Indiana is not mentally tough and Chicago is. Bulls 6

Nets vs. Heat

This will be a classic playoff series. This is very interesting because the Nets have swept the Heat in the regular season, but since 2011 nobody has a better playoff record than the Miami Heat. Both teams have go to guys at the end of the game in Ray Allen and Joe Johnson. I would love to see the Nets win, but I cannot imagine a LeBron James team losing in the 2nd round. Heat 7

Bulls vs. Heat

It is incredible how the Bulls can go this far without Derrick Rose and Luol Deng. The Bulls are one of the few teams that can stop LeBron, but the problem with Chicago is that they do not have a go to guy who can take a last second shot in a late game game situation. This series will be a war, but Miami has only lost one playoff series since the Big 3 era started. This will not be the second. Heat 6

West

Mavericks vs. Spurs

Dallas can play with any team in the NBA. If this was a 2 out of 3 series, Dallas could win, but it is not. The Spurs are on a mission to get back to the Finals, and Popovich will find ways to dismantle the Mavericks. Spurs 5

Trail Blazers vs. Rockets

This series will be one with a lot of threes being made. Damiam Lillard is one of my favorite players to watch, but LaMarcus Algridge is not a physical presence for Portland. If Dwight Howard truly is the best center in the NBA, he has to impose his will against a weak Portland front court. I think he will. Rockets 6

Grizzlies vs. Thunder

The Grizzlies are a dangerous team. They are hitting their strides and getting hot just at the right time. Mike Conley vs. Russell Westbrook will be an interesting matchup to watch. I think this series will go 7, but the difference is that Memphis does not have a superstar, and OKC does. Thunder 7

Warriors vs. Clippers

The most underrated rivalry in the NBA. It is a shame that Bogut is hurt, because this would have been an incredible series if he was healthy. Curry can win a couple of games with his shooting, but the Clippers front court is incredibly better than Golden State's. Clippers 5

Rockets vs. Spurs

Even though Houston swept San Antonio in the regular season, I do not see the Rockets winning this series. The Spurs are a weird team because you can count them out as often as you want, but they will always find ways to win. As good as James Harden is, Tony Parker can matchup with him. Kawhi Leonard is the X factor in this series, and I think his presence will be the difference. This will be a close and competitive series, but Tim Duncan will find ways to help his team win. Spurs 7

Clippers vs. Thunder

Elite point guard matchup in CP3 vs. Russell Westbrook. This will be another great series in the West, but the problem with the Clippers is that they do not have depth to rest guys like DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. Doc Rivers will find ways to push the Thunder to the limit, but the Thunder are too experienced to give in. Thunder 6

Thunder vs. Spurs

Every super man has its kryptonite, the Spurs kryptonite is the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs are a slow and steady half-court team, while the Thunder are one of the quickest teams in the NBA. Gregg Popovich knows that age cannot compete with speed, and that is the difference. Thunder 5

2014 NBA FINALS

Thunder vs. Heat

Rematch of the 2012 NBA Finals. Dwayne Wade is good, but he is not the same Dwayne Wade that he was 2 years ago. Kevin Durant was a baby when they played each other two years ago, now he is a grown man. The Thunder have a lot of depth, while the Heat are lacking in a true 6th man that can come off the bench and give them a solid 20 minutes. In another 7 game series, Kevin Durant will prove why he was the MVP this season and send LeBron and his depleted supporting cast home. Thunder 7
