Ben Jenkins, founder of branding and web design firm, Onefastbuffalo joined the show recently to discuss the launch of his product company, Warstic Wooden Bat Co. This was a great interview as Ben shed some light on using our design talents to create out own products in addition to providing services to clients.

Just finished ep 11 with Adam Clement, keep up the great work. (Although I do have to give you a little flack for that intro music.....LOL)

Thanks, Andrew. What's wrong w/ my intro music lol? It's from a Lexington, KY (where I live) composer. Although self-admittedly it is one of his stock tracks. I'm working on getting something custom that no one else will have or be able to use.

It's just very um how should I say, out of place for a podcast about Sports, I wouldn't want you to use some cliche jock-jams type of music but something a little less "clinical" I guess. Anyway you have a GREAT podcast and I appreciate all your time and effort. Keep up the great work.

and for any of you who haven't check it out....what are you waiting for!?!?!?!

Ah, to be clear, I'm not really concerned about it sounding like a typical sports podcast. Sports is the underlying theme, yes, however the content is more about the high-level of creativity of the business of sports. Since it is not for "Johnny Wannabe Graphic Designer But Is Currently Selling Insurance" who happens to like uniforms and stumbles across it wanting something in-your-face, I personally dig the music's contrast to the content. Plus the reason I used it was because it was from a colleague in Lexington.

I do appreciate the comments though guys. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. Got some great guests lined up throughout the rest of the year.

Realized I forgot to post this even though we have been discussing it here some. Adam Clement, Team Sports Creative Director of Under Armour joined me earlier this week to talk uniform design and the subtle aesthetic elements they include in their designs. I thought this was a beautiful quote from his interview:

"My goal isn't to please the (blogs and internet) audience. Our goal isn't to make everyone happy. It's really to tell the story that the school wants to tell. It's about those athletes. It's about that school, at that time."

the best one yet. my boy, Big Baze in the house! - http://makersofsport.com/episodes/13/kristopher-bazen

I had a blast talking to @krisbazen. Hands down the funniest guy I've had on the show yet. Good times. Also, in case anyone missed it and is interested, I talked to the folks from 8by8 Magazine the last episode http://makersofsport.com/episodes/12/8-8-magazine. Forgot to post last week.

John Trotter, founder of Forty Forty Agency, joins the show this week to talk brand strategy. John is a former senior designer at Nike and was behind the 1996 Olympics ambush marketing campaign by the brand. He was also a creative director at Landor, one of the world's greatest branding agencies before founding his San Francisco branding agency 15 years ago.

If you have any interest in doing more than just logo design (which we all should since a logo is only a small part of a brand), this is a valuable listen.
