Plus here's the projected Chelsea starting XI for 2014/15:

Costas

Hazard. Willian

Oscar. Fabregas

Matic

Filipe Luis Terry. Cahill Azpilicueta

Courtois

That would be a scary team for sure, but I think the lack of Schurrle would be odd after his world cup and I think that they will ride Cech one more year after his great season last year.

What I wish they would do is a bit different than standard Chelsea, but I played around with it in FIFA and it turned out to be pretty fun.

Costa

Oscar

Hazard Schurrle

Fabregas

Matic Willian

Luis Cahill Azpilicueta

Cech

As for the Knockout Round for EUROPE 2016, here it is in its confusion. This is UEFA trying to extend their continental championship with getting the most revenue from it.

Play-off round structure

In the round of 16, UEFA have arranged the match-ups to take place as follows:[22]

Match 1: Runner-up Group A v Runner-up Group C

Match 5: Winner Group C v 3rd Place Group A/B/F

Match 6: Winner Group E v Runner-up Group D

Match 7: Winner Group A v 3rd Place Group C/D/E

Match 8: Runner-up Group B v Runner-up Group F

The specific match-ups involving the third-placed teams depend on which four third-placed teams qualify for the round of 16:[22]

Four best 3rd-placed teams Winner Group A v Winner Group B v Winner Group C v Winner Group D v

A B C D 3rd Place Group C 3rd Place Group D 3rd Place Group A 3rd Place Group B

B C E F 3rd Place Group E 3rd Place Group C 3rd Place Group B 3rd Place Group F

B D E F 3rd Place Group E 3rd Place Group D 3rd Place Group B 3rd Place Group F

C D E F 3rd Place Group C 3rd Place Group D 3rd Place Group F 3rd Place Group E

The quarter-final match-ups are:[22]

Well I don't think we will have to wait that long until England gets eliminated after their team selection for the World Cup. And that was suppose to be one of their best sides in a number of years. At least that's what previous England players, journalists and pundits were saying prior to the WC

All I need to know is how early England will be eliminated. ;)

Well the Round of 16 is the earliest your lot can go out on penalties, so... ^_^
We've evolved. We don't need penalties to be knocked out any more. ;)

Expectations here were actually pretty low going into the World Cup - although we still managed to do worse than anticipated. :D

The idea is that this side is still a work in progress, with an eye to future tournaments rather than the World Cup just gone. Well, that's the idea anyway...

The England senior team is still a work in progress, that is much for sure. But I believe, like all people have been saying for some time now, is the entire revamping of the national side from U15 up to senior team. The FA doesn't need to adopt exactly what Spain or Germany has done but use elements in them to improve the squad. You can see that whenever a new manager comes in at whatever level, he institutes his own coaching philosophy which in turns isn't the same as the other levels. So when a talented kid moves up through the national program, his training is stifled due to no common philosophy or tactics. You would think a man like Roy Hodgson would sit down with The FA and all the coaches at all levels to come up with a plan of attack. Hodgson's in-match man management is complete :censored:e (seen that way too much during matches since EURO 2012) but he knows how to run a training session, setup a training regime would be down his alley. But The FA needs to get onboard with this and push this down through the ranks. As well, coaches like Gary Neville need to get in line with this philosophy. He already has been an opponent to both the German and Spanish training systems saying it would never work in England. How the hell would he know unless he becomes an proponent and push for it. If you are not in it to improve the entirety of the English national side then it's time for you to step down from your assistant coaching role. Another opponent to this would be the Premier League. Ever since the PL broke away from The FA, making money has become the priority not the national side. With Greg Dyke and committee coming up with those ideas to promote the advancement of English talented players to the top of leagues, thus in turn making the national side better, was a complete waste of time. The biggest joke being the PL Reserve League between Conference and League 2. But that's a story on it's own.

The FA should have never allowed the PL to break away from the national association and run under its own auspices. The PL clubs do not care about national team development. They see the international breaks as a curse. More chances of loosing their top players to lengthy injuries. The DFB and 1.Bundesliga have never broken apart due to 51% of the clubs being owned by the supporters. The DFB has always put Die Nationalmannschaft success ahead of Bundesliga success. That all started after EURO 2000 when Germany revamped their entire youth national system.

I think England will improve over the next two years during qualifying in Group E (w/Switzerland, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, and San Marino). But by the time the Finals roll around in summer 2016, most of the top European sides, including Germany, France, and Italy, will have vastly improved as well. Here's hope to Hodgson but if this same German side comes to France, I can see another little dynasty forming.

The good thing for the Brits is that 1st or 2nd in the qualifying group gets them into the Cup in 2016. The 3rd place teams get to be in the playoffs.

These would be the teams if on paper, the qualifying goes as the rankings indicate:

Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, England, Portugal, Greece, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Croatia, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Ireland.

The 3rd place teams on paper will be:

Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Israel, Norway, Slovakia, Romania, Austria, Poland.

Obviously as we all know the teams can and will change in a course of 2 years.
