Good Jerseys Ruined By Bad Sponsors

Recommended Posts

(I've been lurking here for years, but I'm new posting. So sorry if this is already a thread or posted in the wrong place)

I was looking at Manchester United's uniform for the upcoming season, and god I hate that Chevrolet logo. I've never liked United as a team, but I always have admired the kit. But the big, obnoxious and ugly logo makes me hate it for the first time in quite awhile. It is such an contrast to earlier sponsors like Aon which, to me at least, enhanced the jersey and fit in well.

So I'm interested: what other jerseys (from any sport) are good designs ruined by the sponsor?

All that matters is love, love, your love...

The Philadelphia Union would have great kits, were it not for "BIMBO" across their chests.

There's also an A-League club that had WestJet as a sponsor, and had the company website and a full-color, chest-width plane as a part of their ad.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I've always hated any type of sponsorship on uniforms, unless it was the manufacturer (Nike, Adidas, UA, etc). But if it has to be done I wish they would stick with one color logos and make sure that color matches the team color scheme.

That seems like a decent idea until it's taken too far, too.

Or the worst offender, Tackla. Remember those shoulder logos?

...actually, I think all of this stays pretty relevant to the thread. Many nice jerseys, many massive manufacturer logos...and I didn't even use the Adidas stripes!

I'll respect any opinion that you can defend.

Just imagine how much worse they will look with Adidas stripes
