Stolen Work

I once saw a cake at the grocery store with a James Harden wallpaper I had made on it. You can spot my watermark on the bottom right. Delicious plagiarism.

Still, you've gotta admit that's pretty sick to have your design on a cake.

even better with your logo. throw your portfolio link in there next time. free advertising!

well I'm not sure whether he has bought these logos from the maker, but here:

Stolen Saints logo: http://mvptees.com/collections/frontpage/products/kap-copy

Stolen Eagles logo: http://mvptees.com/collections/frontpage/products/t-dallascopy

Stolen Jets logo: http://mvptees.com/collections/football/products/packcopy-1

Stolen Colts logo: http://mvptees.com/collections/football/products/bosscopy

Stolen Browns logo: http://mvptees.com/collections/football/products/luckycopy

& I know he removed others from the site, but here is where the logos came from, I recognized them as soon as I saw them

I seem to recall seeing this Detroit Lions logo posted on here as well: http://mvptees.com/collections/frontpage/products/dencopy

You are correct. Not only did they steal it, but they removed what I believe are necessary details and made a pretty lame shirt out of it.

You could always set up a redbubble store or a Design By Humans store and sell it yourself. I know it's not much in terms of "protecting your work," but at least it combats it by theoretically pulling sales away from him.

That exactly what it was, my logo and website URL. :) Not sure how legible that frosting is though.

Here's a new one. I came across this helmet concept on the popular section of Dribbble. Though the title of the shot is "Helmet Icon," he said nothing about the helmet render being made by Fraser Davidson, and all the comments are praising the shading, rendering, etc. So I made a comment attributing the helmet to Fraser. Now he blocked me.

I'm sure some of our other CCSLC Dribblers can set him straight.

I have tried looking for report buttons on images and even the "artists" main hub but there never seems to be an option there. Do you guys just contact the site or something?

P.S. This was on Dribbble and Behance

.

hmm I'm not seeing it, even when I Signed Up. Oh well, I liked Doug's post anyway

If someone would invite me so I can comment on these :censored: hole's posts I would love to do so. Also wouldn't mind being able to post some stuff of mine :)

All this crap seems really stupid, but this is one of the many downsides to the age of social media and the internet. Don't get me wrong there's lots of positives, and I think Dribbble is an awesome site, but you gotta think things like this would totally happen. I'm down to help out anyway I can.

Last I saw Doug your comment was still up. There were 2 likes including mine.

To be honest, I think the best defense (even more so than watermarks and all that) is being an active part of a network like Dribbble, Behance, or even here. I've gotten tips from people I've spoken to maybe once before on work that was being shared without attribution, all because I was visible and active on those networks.

So, while it may be tempting to shell up and watermark the ever-living :censored: out of your work, keep creating, keep posting it, and the general community will (usually) keep an eye out for your work. Think about it -- there are guys who post work all the time, and you know their styles. I hate to use the ever-common example of Fraser, but his work is unique and he spreads it far and wide. When someone steals his work, everyone knows because they've seen it somewhere. The more often you create those exposure opportunities, the more likely you'll be alerted by a fellow community member (if you don't catch it yourself).

If I see something familiar, I always look around to see if it's something I recognize for a reason, and then let the artist know. Yu Masuda's Bengal actually made it on to one of MVPTees' shirts, so I sent him a quick note.

We're much stronger as a community, think of it that way. It sucks that it happens, but threads like this give me a little bit of hope that our work is somewhat protected still.

Great post.

After this thread opened up I have felt that this community could end up being like a back up to the dribbbles, behances, twitters, or what have you in the internet world.

I'm really glad that this topic has grown on the boards... perhaps we could have this pinned for any future incidents so that we can continue to protect and back up the great work that is done by the community members here. Just a suggestion.

I sent an email to Max O'brein, the creator of these logos, to see if he knew about them on mvptees.com. Max didn't know about them and he sent a email to mvptees to have them stop selling the shirts. Max also said that he will take legal action if the situation continues.

Saw this on my facebook news feed. Pretty sure this was made by someone here on the forums in an all sports city thread. Felt I would share to make sure no one is getting ripped off on this.

I've just read the whole thread and found some great advice. Just found out not to long ago that an amateur football (soccer for the yanks :P) club called HNK Mostar Melbourne has ripped the heck out of my Zrinjski logo update that I've posted here and on Design Football forums.

Here's my logo: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/99521-bosnia-and-herzegovina-premier-league-redesign-516/

And this is what they've did with it, plus the jersey which is reminiscent of my 3rd kit for Zrinjski:

10705206-469828336490108-773319153-n_82010714655-469828113156797-723371314-n_294

No credit what so ever. I've e-mailed them and threatened with a lawsuit, since they are making money off of my design. I want my name somewhere of their page or in the logo's picture description, but if they don't give me my well deserved credit, then I don't have any other choice then to bring up a lawsuit.

Is watermarking, or copyright sentence in the bottom of our work's picture the most we can do.
