  1. no, i mean...you're definitely right. i'm just saying from a PR perspective, it's probably why they wouldn't even touch anything dodger related. honestly, they could have just done something inspired by the neon on the outside of shea stadium and everyone would have loved it. but again, it's for the dude walking through times square going, "oh cool NYC jersey! i'll buy that!"
  2. just curious if this does anything for anyone. super quick removal of the bridge from the cap and changing the outlines on the jersey and hat to purple.
  3. during the wilpon ownership, the mets got (justifiably)murdered for caring more about the brooklyn dodgers than their own history. don't think they would have ever gone in that direction. but even so, that's not what the CC program is about. it's about the city, not the baseball history (obviously, as a baseball fan, that stinks, but it is what it is). look at this excerpt from the athletic. bunch of great nuggets in this article, by the way, including that player feedback to nike about colored pants has been that they get too hot, they thought about doing 'QUEENS' but thought it was too narrow for a fan base that is spread out: For the Mets, the process with Nike started after the 2021 season. Nike issued a brief on what goes into a City Connect uniform, and Goldberg and Benesh filled out a 12-page questionnaire posing queries such as, “What does New York mean?” Nike sent five design concepts based on the answers, and the team gave notes or directions to scrap whatever look altogether; five more designs would follow.
  4. think some of the critiques of the mets CC uni are a little too extreme. i can't believe i'm saying this, but i agree that it needs more purple. maybe that'll happen on the undersleeves. the NY on the cap should have been purple, and without the bridge. i don't mind the pants being white. on a player that wears a more tailored uni like lindor, charcoal pinstripe pants probably would have been great. but on the bigger guys, especially when they go pants down, it would have looked drab, like the rest of the CC's. yes, "queens" would have been better on the front. it is what it is. overall, it's probably in the 6/7 out of 10 range for me. considering the CC program's propensity to produce absolute nonsense, i'm perfectly okay with these being my team's version.
  5. let nelly design a backwards jersey. you cowards!
  6. i'm sure they're retailers are prepping for it. giving it space to breath after the redesign is the way to go.
  7. i’ll reserve all judgment until i see the full look (and then see it on the field), but i’m not going to lie: if it looks like the NYC version, it might be kind of good?
  8. hmmmm. the fact that the cap is a subway token design is intriguing since we know they're going purple in a nod to the 7 train. but the bridge being in the official teaser matching the first cap leak leads me to lean toward the first one being legit. i don't know. this one i wouldn't hate. but i'm skeptical.
  9. if the mets use the new york city script, it could be decent. i just don't like the tone they're setting with that bridge embroidery on the cap. borders on gas station cap design.
  10. looks like we have a mets city connect cap leak: https://www.instagram.com/p/C5tDIQzRlFB/?igsh=MWFram96eTMxbmlpbg==
  11. by visibility, they mean on merchandising, because why do you need more brand visibility on a product that you're already watching. nevermind the fact that the batterman wasn't even in that spot until the year 2000.
  12. not going to lie, even with all the pearl clutching about the nike template, i kinda figured it wouldn’t matter once i turned on the tv. of course us uni nerds would care, but i figured the jerseys would be close enough that most people would just forget about it. watched the mets today and my goodness these jerseys look like absolute dog. it’s abysmal. i don’t understand how they figured these player names would be okay.
  13. everyone keeps saying the jerseys look like knockoffs, but i think they look more like youth replicas.
  14. a thought randomly occurred to me over the weekend: you think the mets changed their black uniform because they (team or nike or both) knew that a tri-color with dropshadow name and number would look horrible in the smaller font size? may have just been to sell a new batch of jerseys, but it could explain the change.
