Goodell is anti-uniform ads. As long as he’s at the helm, I doubt it happens. He believes, correctly IMO, that the monetary gain loses out to the “cheapening” of the brand. I hope he holds the line.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we see promotional shoots last year that did not include ad patches? I seem to remember the Lakers did not have their Bibigo patch in a lot of pre-season media, but once the season started it was there.
It will happen at some point, I’m afraid. These owners don’t care about shepherding tradition—they would sell ad space on their own foreheads if they could command a large enough return.
