I'm starting to realize I think I just don't like football uniforms in general anymore. why do sleeve stripes not go around the entire sleeve anymore? why is everything so flat? why does everyone, including offensive linemen, have to have their uniforms vacuum-sealed? why do sleeve stripes not go around the entire sleeve anymore?

I really, genuinely think it's a sunbelt problem - there's never been this kind of vitriol when the Isles have had a playoff series against a Flyers or Penguins, at least not in recent years. hell, even that one series with the Bruins felt like it had an undercurrent of mutual respect despite the whole "New York Saints" thing. that just ceases to exist when it's the Canes, Lightning, etc. across the ice. they don't give me the impression that they want to be "part" of the greater league ecosystem, they give me the impression that they want to take that ecosystem, smash it to pieces, and rebuild it in their own mayonnaise-flavored image. remember when whichever team limped into the Southeast Division title got sent home in a coffee can like clockwork year after year? that was nice. we should go back to that.

the new york islanders, despite their best efforts, are a playoff team for the fifth time in six seasons. now if they could stop facing carolina in the playoffs, that'd be tremendous.

I mean, you're not going to get any sympathy from me. this team should've been out of arizona fifteen years ago at least, and realistically never should've been there in the first place. complete unmitigated disaster from start to finish. the only real regret I have here is that, while I'll concede SLC will probably work out as a hockey market, I really just wish they went to quebec or hamilton instead. and no, phoenix absolutely should not get a second chance. hell, I'd give atlanta a third chance before putting another team in phoenix.
