Could it be? Could this be the pivotal moment we needed? When a small, independent team puts out a more respectable and cohesive look than recent outlandish teams... Could it be a small spark to ignite us back to 'Normal' Minor League quirkiness?
Any navy and green set already gets points in my book. Then you throw in an anthropomorphic Larry-the-Cucumber-esque pickle in a baseball uniform? I'm sold.
I like it a lot. Didn't know about the national park before the video, so that's a nice homage. The CF jar logo is just a perfect minor league team alternate logo. It'll be interesting to see if they include light streaks around the wordmarks for the jerseys.
Per Uni-Watch, seems that the SWB Railriders logo will be relatively short lived. The middle section of the article states, "The team will still be known as the RailRiders but will have a new logo “which really emphasizes SWB” for the 2016 season. Minor League Baseball, however, will not allow the team to unveil the logo until the end of this season." Not looking good for the Porcupine conductor.
Do not like the all black uniform and the bacon hat is just plain awful. I love the I-Beam liberty bell logo, though. 1/3 is good in baseball, though, so I guess this works? ... Here are the new hats by day. Friday home (Molten Pig): Saturday Home (Bacon): Sunday Home (Liberty Bell):
Hands down, one of my top favorite hats I have. Sad to see it go. Like someone else said, never saw them play, but the hat was beautiful. I guess if the new stuff will sell merch for them, then great. But I, for one, would never want a team I like to rebrand their identity around the mascot, especially when it looks as drugged out as Champ does... http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000LzlUXPmdqEU/s/750/750/Mascot-Champ-5057.jpg
"Swinging logo. Check. Alternate 2-letter logo. Check. Threw an angry face on something weird. Check. Alright we're all set. Let's go hang out and pretend it took us awhile. Oh and we'll tell the press we spent 'nearly a year to finalize' because we were meeting with fans and taking into consideration all of their opinions, the game atmosphere, and the unique aspects that makes this town and their name stand out." ....
Found the 2011 options for changing the team name.. Canal Rats? haha that's awful Aeros, Bulkers, Canal Diggers, Canal Rats, Devil Strips, Gum Dippers, Hoggies, Oats, Rubber Burners, Rubber Ducks, Rubber Scrubbers, Skippers, Tire Jacks, Vulcans, White Walls.... But, I think they're better than what they had. I really don't know the creature in the old logo was.
I don't know how often they play each other, but I find it interesting that both teams in this South Carolina/North Carolina super regional have "Carolina" on their jerseys.
