  1. Riddle me this: Are more and more minor league jerseys using sublimated graphics as opposed to traditional tackle twill/stitches/sewn on letters and patches? Or is it an illusion due to using lighter weight materials and lighting?
  2. 25 patch for the New Orleans baseball club. Note the absence of baby Finster. Hopefully, this may lead to the removal of that ridiculous logo and name and perhaps they will consider a more palatable moniker like the King Cakes...
  3. Yeah...I do believe there will be even more backlash to that ridiculous, embarrassing name come April. I'm hoping, in the end, they just stick with the NOLA jersey and the N.O. cap.... Because, asking professional ball players to wear "BabyCakes" across their chest can't possibly go over well.
  4. Gee... an independent team can come up with a far better identity and logo than a AAA team (see New Orleans)....
  5. They're hoping at least one catches on so they can justify this abomination...
  6. Think of it as a glorified cinnamon roll... with lots and lots of sugar on top... And, now they often fill it with cream cheese or fruit filling. They're actually quite tasty. They used to be a real treat when you could only get them around Mardi Gras. Now, you can get them year round. An d in different colors to match the seasons...
  7. What we have here is an outside company asking everyone outside of New Orleans what they think New Orleans is all about. They, they look for the most stereotypical elements of New Orleans and decided that is what New Orleans is all about. Not the people; not the food; not the culture; not the history. But, rather, Mardi Gras. And then, those outsiders ran with it. They said they had focus groups with ticket holders and the community. I call shenanigans! There's 10K social media posts out there saying otherwise. And, now the people from San Diego and Cuba and South Carolina are all saying this is New Orleans. Take it from someone born and raised in the French Quarter: it ain't.... But, I'll point out some positives: The NOLA jersey with the king cake as the "O" is inventive. The New Orleans wordmark on the away jersey is really nice, except they put those damn stereotypical beads on it, thus making it look like crap. THE BEST PART of the new identity: The return of the Pelicans moniker. They should have been called the Pelicans from day one (but, Tom Benson is a vengeful and greedy old man).
  8. Well, in Louisiana, when we boil the crawfish, we throw in sausage and corn and whole garlic and mushroom and potatoes.... oh, and crawfish... I don;t see that done as much with shrimps and crabs, but why not?
  9. Every time I see a new minor league name and logo, I hear Janice from Friends: Oh... My... God.... (yeah, I'm dating myself here, but you millennials can catch up with the reruns)
  10. Husband: Honey, I'm off to see the Baby Cakes... *frying pan to the face* Wife: And just who the hell is Baby Cakes?
  11. It won't be the Pelicans... Tom Benson bought those rights 25 years ago and would never give it up. And, that's a shame. because the city had a Pelicans baseball team for some 75 years, and is the perfect baseball moniker. And, it won;t be the Nutria. We all love Boudreaux as a physical mascot, but not as the name of the team. It'll no doubt be very regional. But, I hope it's not a "singular" name like Jazz or Brass or Funk or Krewe or Gumbo. And I pray they don;t use purple/gold/green as their color scheme. I would like to see them use the St. Charles Avenue streetcars. Use olive/dark green and maroon as their colors, and the same number font that is used on the streetcars. Throw a baseball in place of the headlight, or the wheels. Maybe incorporate the tracks as piping or something. Just a thought...
  12. Looking at this picture, if they were all "authentic" all six jerseys together would have cost $2,400 at $400 a piece. If they were the "premeir" jerseys they would have cost $1,200 at $200 a piece. Sadly they are all fakes and it probably cost $300 at $50 a piece. THATS THE PROBLEM! People don't care if they are real or not. It cost them significantly less. ...and I bet this family is happy to have those jerseys...
  13. Just a show of hands: how many of you have wives or girlfriends with fake Coach or Gucci or *insert designer fashion name here* purses? If they do, do you call them criminal or immoral? Or are you glad they spent $25 for a purse rather than $500?
