dfwabel
nice to see the Spurs reaching out to the Latino community but the jersey looks estúpidoI am not sure if I would consider this "reaching out" as March 6, 1836 was the day which the Mexican Army took control of The Alamo. While the Mexican Army won that battle, they lost the war as a result of the Battle of San Jacinto, in the War of Texas Independence. Not really a sign of appreciation to me.And Kenny Smith just repeated the nonsense of not translating "Spurs" into Spanish as well. BallWonk
But seriously, what would be the Spanish for "Spurs"? The noun form, that is -- I'm pretty sure the verb "to spur" would be estimular, but the team is named for the noun, not the verb.It should be "Las Espuelas".geez, so they didn't even get the "gender" of the noun right? yeah, that just reeks of pandering like illwauk said."Pandering" is when you change your name for one day. "Sucking" is the word for when you don't even bother to get your attempted name-pandering right.I'm all for pandering. When a team does this right -- like the Giants and Brewers -- it's completely awesome. It's making a half-assed non-attempt like "Los Spurs" that bothers me. - Las Trampistas (Dodgers)Man, I hope they make that jersey someday. That is awesome. I love the name "Dodgers," but "Trampistas" may be even better.

29texan
Most of you know that the Spurs trying to reach out to San Antonio's mainly hispanic population and culture isn't new. But IMO, I'd rather see "Los Spurs" than that somewhat thoughtless, pink, orange, and teal, cheap taco fast food place version of what they called a logo ANYDAY. You remember.... the "Fiesta" Sprus logo?
MJWalker45
The other thing to remember to is that the Hispanic community in San Antonio refer to the team as "Los EhSpurs". Also since the teams are all male, Las would be replaced by Los on all names including Los Medios Rojos y Blancos. The WNBA teams would all be referred to by Las if labelled correctly
