dgnmrwrw
After more thought I've decided to keep the newer Blackhawks font that I had originally. I just think it's different and fits the identity, without being over-the-top. All things being equal, I'd rather have a stronger overall identity than a more generic typeface. I'm also going to put the new crest on the jerseys, and call that project done. Now, for more Hurricanes frustration.... I've got a jersey design that I really like; unfortunately, it's only for the road white jersey. Here it is:I like it because it's crisp and clean and mimics the style of the crest. But with the red jersey, simply switching the red stripes to white just isn't quite sitting right with me:So I've tried several other ideas, and I'm only really considering two of them. I'm partial to the first one because it keeps the striping consistent with the logo. And the second one is getting BUSY.So, of the 3 possible red jerseys I just posted, which (if any) do you guys think is best? I had thought of just outlining the red/black stripe with a thin white and thin silver stripe on each side (instead of using the swoosh shape). Or, is this jersey design even worth pursuing? Also, I will try to get the Blackhawks final update posted and probably post the Avs later today. HotCoffey
definitely take the first red option. It is consistent with the white one's striping. The second option has a little too much red without the balancing factor of white in the first one. And the third option I think may be a little too much white. Hope I explained that well enough. Also, could someone please tell me, does the home team in NHL wear white at home or white on the road? I know it has been changed back and forth a few times recently, and I don't follow hockey much up until this year's playoffs. The Stanley Cup hooked me and now I will be following the sport closely next fall... gatorade09
The first red jersey is the best. I love all these concepts in here especially the Blackhawks concept.definitely take the first red option. I'm might be wrong but I think sometimes teams can wear white at home if it is an alternate jersey.
wildwing64
That Canes logo is badass. Very nicely done As for the jersey, I'd say the first one's the best of the three. The other two don't really look or feel right, and the third one feels something like an inverted Red Wings white jersey. dgnmrwrw
Two more contenders, and then I promise I'm done with iterations for the Canes:andBelow are the home red jerseys of the 4 options I'm considering for Carolina. I'm already heavily leaning toward one of them (and if you've followed my concepts on these boards, you can probably guess it), but I want to get as much feedback as possible first.Option AOption BOption COption D HURRICANES | PANTHERS | WHITE SOX | WOLFPACK

elliott
Mmm...I really like all of your designs in this thread before you got to the Hurricanes. I see what you are trying to do, but this is way overdesigned. The primary logo has waaayy too many layers and strokes to be effective, it just turns into a crazed mass of alternating black white and red. Simplicity works. Same goes with the uniforms. That's why I would say option D, the shoulder yokes look excellent on that, the sleeves are simple and nice, and if you could make the logo simpler, more along the lines of option D's arm striping, this would improve dramatically. On another note, I don't really think the font fits, try something straight up and down rather than italic, and maybe something with serifs to mimic the pointy parts of the logo. The nascar font looks fine with what they have now, but I don't like it here. Dribbble ... Behance

dgnmrwrw
Ok, thanks for the input. I tweaked some more and finally got it where I wanted it. So here are the finished Hurricanes:I went with these uniforms because they work well with the logo (and stay consistent throughout) without being too busy. And I like how there is now a nice relation between the double stripe on the home and away with the double stripe on the alternate (note: home and away used curvy crest and have curved stripes; alternate has angular crest and has angled/straight stripes). And elliott, in general I agree that (all things being equal) simple is better. But to give the impression of the speed, movement, etc of a hurricane, I don't think being overly simple can pull it off. For instance, this: is a much weaker solution, though it is much simpler.Thrilled to be done with this one, finally. Tomorrow I'll post the next concept (Colorado), and get this train moving again. elliott
^ Well, yeah, but that's a little extreme, I just think if you dropped one or two of the layers of color it would look way cleaner. Dribbble ... Behance

chestnutz
Right now, you have 8 strokes on the "puck" in the middle of the logo. That's a helluva lot, and it just looks like chaos. I really like the alternate uniform though. erikas | go birds | dribbble
rentz
I like the new logo a lot... there are a lot of strokes, but as you said it adds to the design, the 'motion' aspect. I guess I look a bit begrudgingly at the Hurricanes franchise (As they arose from the ashes of my beloved Whalers) but this is a nice design. dgnmrwrw
woah, I didn't expect the body striping to go that far up to the shouldersThat's just poor rendering by me. The stripes you see on the jersey by itself are accurate. Sometimes translating that to the player model is awkward. I'll probably go back and fix that eventually.Right now, you have 8 strokes on the "puck" in the middle of the logo. That's a helluva lot, and it just looks like chaos. I really like the alternate uniform though. Not sure what you mean here; there's no longer a puck in the logo. There is an eye, but I only count two curved strokes on the outside of the eye (the red shape), with a few concentric ovals on the inside. The swirling black part of the hurricane does have 8 curved strokes on the inside and outside, but I still don't think it's too much. Many of those strokes are small and thin and would blend from a distance, only being truly distinguishable from up close. And now, as promised... dgnmrwrw
#8: Colorado AvalancheSimplification and tweaking only for this logo and wordmark. I really like the Av's logo: it's modern while still consisting of only two or three (if you count the puck) elements. However, I always thought the oval behind it was unnecessary, so it's gone. Also, instead of using so many colors (maroon, black, blue, silver, white), I combined the black and blue into sort of a midnight blue. Other than that, I just touched up some of the avalanche part of the logo and tweaked the 'colorado' part of the wordmark. For the uniforms, I wanted to go a very different direction than any style they've ever had. Their new cookie cutter Edge unis are obviously not good, but I always really disliked their original set too--I thought the zig-zag mountains everywhere were overdone. So I went with a simple stripe sequence, but used it in an angular, pointed shape on the sleeves. Instead of repeating that on the waist, I tried something a bit different. I gave them striped sections on the sides, with a tapering point. It's odd, but I like it. To me, they sort of direct the eye to the logo on the chest and numbers on the back. The alternate jersey is very different. Instead of using the old foot logo, I gave them a new Yeti logo, showing the head and shoulders. So for the alternate jerseys, I wanted to emphasize white and silver (snowy colors for the Yeti) with the midnight blue. I tried getting some touches of maroon in there, but I think I should probably add more or take it out entirely. joshhockey
I want to start by saying that alternate is the most amazing thing that I have seen. Ever. I would buy one in a second and I don't like the Avs.On the home and away, I like the arm striping but the sides are bugging me. With nothing at the bottom it looks really plain.Good job.
